Ain't that the truth. Who the hell hires the Patriots' chaplain and puts him in a position of power?
The SI article was a real eye opener. A con man with a lust for power has been able to wrangle the trust of the Texans' not-too-bright owner.

This is a Russ Brandon on steroids situation, but much worse.

Others are right though, this might be a good time to pluck a decent player off their roster for a song

Re: Report: Deshaun Watson would consider trade to Dolphins

Teams calling Texans about Deshaun Watson's availability; could Panthers be suitor for QB?

The New York Jets could be another logical trade partner, given they own the No. 2 overall pick, which would allow Houston to select a rookie QB to start over with or add Sam Darnold to the package.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport added another potential candidate to the rumor mill: the Carolina Panthers.

"I would not discount the Carolina Panthers in this situation," Rapoport said Monday on NFL Network's Good Morning Football. "They have the eighth pick, so obviously not as high as, say, the Jets or Dolphins, but that is also a team that needs very badly to solve its quarterback issues. And (has) an owner who is not afraid to make big bold moves."

With Teddy Bridgewater under contract for another year, the Panthers have already begun the search for a long-term solution at QB. Matt Rhule has stuck by Bridgewater, but landing Watson would be a game-changer for a club like Carolina. Panthers owner David Tepper isn't one likely to shy away from the high price-tag Watson would cost.

Deshaun Watson trade rumors: Texans don't consider Tua Tagovailoa 'adequate replacement'
There's a potential hurdle in the Deshaun Watson-to-Miami trade rumors, and his name is Tua Tagovailoa.
According to a report by Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, the Texans don't consider Tagovailoa, coming off his rookie season, "an adequate replacement" to their three-time Pro Bowl quarterback:

I wonder if Meyer dangled the Jags top pick in their face if they'd bite.

Why waste away a good cap situation ? Select Lawrence and solidify the lines with 76 Mil in cap space. He'd be a fool to toss most of that away on 1 player who will be paid a bundle. No pressure year 1. JMO.

Tua has shown little to believe he's the long term answer for ANY team at QB. But with the #3 pick, they could be in the conversation.

Seems like everyone is waiting to see who the hire will be. What if Bills upset Chiefs ? Then Eric Bienemy may get an immediate offer. Or Leslie Fazier. I'm sure Texans feel a man of color could change Watsons mind. He had a great year and had only 4 wins to show for it. Took a beating. Not saying what he is doing is right or wrong but he obviously doesn't feel like losing for several more years because his clueless owner let Bill O'Brien run the team into the ground.

Report: Deshaun Watson prefers Jets over Dolphins

    https-::profootballtalk.nbcsports.com:2021:01:23:report-deshaun-watson-prefers-jets-over-dolphins:

It’s been suggested that Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson wants to play for the Dolphins. Reportedly, there’s another team in the AFC East even higher on his lift.
Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports that Watson’s No. 1 choice is the Jets.

“Watson this week told people the Jets are his top preference among the teams he’d like to be traded to because they hired Robert Saleh to be their coach and Watson values Saleh so much he wanted the Texans to interview him for their vacant head coach job,” Salguero writes.

Gotta have a QB. Watson is proven, Lawrence isn't.

I'm sure the Jets (#2) and Dolphins (#3) would be willing to pull the trigger without much hesitation.

Watson saying he wants the Jets over the Dolphins.

According to Armando Salguero of The Miami Herald, Watson prefers to play for the New York Jets, and his No. 2 option would be the Miami Dolphins. Salguero reports that Watson told people the Jets are his top preference because they recently hired Robert Saleh to be their new head coach. Watson apparently valued Saleh so much that he wanted the Texans to interview him for their open head coaching job.

Lawrence could be the next Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes and be cheap. Watson isn't cheap.

I assume Jags would have to give up more than just the #1. But even so... I would probably not trade the pick for Watson. Cap #, age, state of the team.... I'd probably roll the dice on Lawrence.

He’s going to be a Jet.

If he plays the way he has been he will be king of NY.

I think that's where he lands as well.
