That was good decision #1 in a string of good decisions. Do we tip a collective hat to Doug?

Only if that "tip" means "good riddance".

We had a succession of losers before Sean, including Malarkey, Marrone and Ryan. What a CHANGE.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

I was all in on McDermott from the moment we had another opening....I remember talking him up, no one knew much about him, but he gave a sense of wanting to be a head coach, not a glorified coordinator. I was psyched when they hired him.

I was horrified when he hired Leslie Frazier though, omg Tampa-2....Jauron flashbacks.....omg omg.....

I've argued alot with Gooby.....but he was the one said no no, settle down, it won't be Tampa-2. I sure didn't believe him and saw terrible ahead. Well he nailed that, and McD was indeed all about being an hc and not a glorified coordinator, and it sure has been a fun time if somewhat ragged in year 2. Even Op is having some funs !

It sure is sweet feeling a Super Bowl might be possible again, and I'm delighted to have the man and his infernal golfclaps on our sidelines.
Mr. Pink shot me down in flames. I salute you, Pink.

    It was about time.
“I didn’t perform well enough for this team . . . We moved the ball well enough. We got down to the red zone but we couldn’t get the ball in the end zone. A couple bad decisions on my part,”

The thing I love is he’s clearly growing on the job

one of my biggest issues with him before was in game decision making

look at the timeout that wasn’t a timeout in the botched fumble last game.
I don’t believe last years McDermott does that
    I came.
    I saw.
    I conquered.

Chalk those mistakes up to inexperience on the big stage. He’s well past that now and is making solid decisions like clockwork. We’ve never heard any player say anything even remotely negative about him...he has the buy-in from everyone on the roster...they’ve trusted the process and he’s leading them the right way. I love where this organization is right now. Legit Super Bowl contender!

McDermott is the longest tenured coach since Marv Levy. In between we had 7 full time coaches (I'm not including the 2 interim coaches). Outside of Jauron, who lasted a little over 3.5 seasons, the rest never made it beyond 3 seasons & half of them only lasted 2. Of the 3 who lasted 2 years, Rex didn't even make it to the season finale in year 2. The other two, Mularkey & Marrone both quit after 2 seasons. Every 2 or 3 years WGR would have a January ritual they called Coach Search.
