    Re: Zach Ertz TE

He is not a free agent. The Bills would have to trade for him.

He has a $8.25 million base salary in 2021 while carrying a $12.4 million cap hit with a dead cap value of $7.8 million.

Is he worth a draft pick in trade? Would have to be a pretty low pick....and the Eagles are reportedly asking for a 3rd to 4th round pick.

They could cut him and eat his $7.8 million dead money hit....and I suspect that it would cost Buffalo more than $8 million to sign him.

Hmmmmmm....that's lots of baggage for a 30 year old TE.

BTW....the Pats with their spending spree have set the market for TE's. They just made it much harder for the Bills. They will probably look to the draft instead of overpaying with a trade.

    Re: Zach Ertz TE

    Latest scuttlebutt on Ertz....

    • It's not a formality that the Eagles and tight end Zach Ertz part ways this year, per Garafolo. Philadelphia has been reluctant to trade him as it seeks better compensation for the former Pro Bowler. Moreover, Ertz has said he's willing to play out the final year of his deal and hit free agency next year, if need be.

    Forget him.

    Re: Zach Ertz TE

Now that we're picking so low in the draft, it's going to be important to draft well and often. Rookies will have to be a big part of what we do once Allen is locked in and that day is quickly coming. I think Ertz is too expensive for our taste. As FAs go, i think we're best off waiting. There will be a lot of good players around once the first few days are over looking for teams and most teams will be at their respective caps. A lot of good players are going to have to take much less than their normal mkt value by the time this FA period is over.
All Hail Josh Allen! Savior of the Buffalo Bills!

The Eagles are 17.9 million over the cap .... there are only 6 teams currently over the cap and they are the 2nd highest ... they could be forced just to release Ertz by 4pm tomorrow.

Reminder that all NFL teams have until the new league year on March 17, 4 pm ET to get under the salary cap
According to OTC the following teams are still over:
    #Bears - $20.3M
    #Eagles $17.9M
    #Rams $17.9M
    #Saints - $11.9M
    #Packers - $5.6M
    #Giants - $1.4M

Maybe we should merge the Ertz threads

Ertz may be released so the price is negotiable I'm pretty sure.

Mine thread is a confirmation of us dealing with Zach, yours is an idea of doing it. See the difference???

    J/K. I don’t see a difference, let’s get his a$$ & have a real TE.

So are the Bills willing to give up a pick for him? I heard the Eagles want a 3rd or 4th, but the Bills don't have a 4th this year. I don't love the idea of giving up a 3rd, but I like Ertz as a player.

That's the ask ..... probably take less before they have to flat out release him.

Zach Ertz will help Josh Allen and Dawson Knox as well.

I think Philly should keep him just for the announcers sake. “Hurts to Ertz” sounds pretty sweet

They are in cap hell and have very little leverage.

Hurts to Ertz is tough to lose.

    Re: Zach Ertz TE

Reading all the news reports, tweets and etc... tonight. I think i've changed my stance. I believe we're actually going to trade for Ertz. Possibly with the pick we got from dealing Lee Smith. How we're going to afford his contract along with a full slate of rookies, i do not know. But i think we're actually going to do it.
