36. Darnell Wright OT - Tenn. He was there. It wasn't a difficult choice. No sacks allowed in 19 straight games. he worked on his footwork ad it paid off. BUt with a twinge of sadness, I really had hopes for Spencer Brown, but you can't keep giving up over 40 pressures a year.
59 Sam Avila OG SMU. Campbell was gone I probably would have taken him. But damned, between him and Wright, we now have real improvement on the OL. Avila looked very good all season, and just as good at the Senior Bowl.
86 Jonathan Mingo WR Ole Miss. 6'2" 225 lbs, ran a 4.46 at the Combine. Very good hands. Not a fully refined route runner, but very good. Big enough to break tackles after the catch, fast enough for YAC.
92 Daiyan Henley LB Washington St. a Tad undersized at 6'1" but fast, covers very well, is a sidline to sideline person and knows how to tackle. OK McD...you've been given 1st and 2nd round picks throughout your tenure on D. You have all of your startes back except one. and you are given a good prospect to work with. Figure it out.
97. Darius Rush CB South Carolina. 6'1" 190 lbs and ran a 4.36 at the Combine. He gets a shot at safety, learning behind Hyde and Poyer. Boom or bust pick.
124 Tank Dell WR Houston. Yeah, already took a WR, but he's a totally different receiver. He's a mite, his 40 was so so, but he probably runs as fast laterally as he does straight ahead. In Senior Bowl practices, he was getting more separation than anyone. He left a number of jocks on the field. Uber productive, 15 TDs last year.
I read something the other day, that of the small WR's in the draft, he had twice the red zone catches than his nearest competition. Figure way way to use him.
130 Ricky Stromberg C Arkansas I would have taken him earlier if I hadn't taken Avila. He can play. Well coached, probably the best center in the SEC and maybe the best interior lineman in the division not named O'Cyrus.
137 Mohamoud Diabete LB Utah Officially a sleeper pick. Bigger than Henley, at 6'4", and could put on 10-15 lbs to his 230 lb frame. His pursuit to the sideline can be outstanding. And as he is right now, he's not bad at shedding blocks. He's got the physical talent.
156 Yaya Diaby DE/Edge Louisville. He's not a finished product, but he's a piece of granite to chisel. He was one of the few edge rushers at the Senior Bowl who was winning battles. (it was a pretty unimpressive SB class for edge rushers). Great first step and a 4.5 40. Built like a tank. Von can help fine tune him. with his seep, he'd be the 2nd fastest edge rusher on the squad behind Von.
