    “The Fix Is In”

    https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...x-is-in-crowd/

On Monday night, referee Tony Corrente and his crew made multiple bad calls. Corrente personally was responsible for two major moments, a controversial low block that took a touchdown off the board for Chicago and a sketchy taunting call that included Corrente throwing a hip into Cassius Marsh just before throwing the flag.

Both calls were very bad. In his pool report, Corrente said whatever he had to say to justify the decisions he made, no matter how factually inaccurate his contentions were.

Corrente’s antics prove yet again the value of a sky judge/booth umpire who would have bridged the gap between the TV feed and the decisions made in the moment by the on-field officials. In a situation like the one that emerged last night, it’s the kind of thing that justifies suspicion that the fix is in.
The fix isn’t in. The NFL doesn’t predetermine the outcome of games. In large part because it couldn’t pull it off without someone blabbing.
But that doesn’t keep people from thinking the fix is in. And it doesn’t keep situations like the one that played out last night from making people think the fix is in.
Perception is reality. The more that people perceive there’s a predetermined result, the more of a problem it becomes for the NFL.

Most especially after last year's playoffs, anybody that still refuses to acknowledge that the officials affect games for preferred outcomes is just putting on blinders and chanting 'la-la-la-la-la'.

Corrente's crew will NOT get any extra work once the regular season's done. Just to make it clear: Officiating crews are evaluated by the league. The smoother a game they run, the better the chance they'll get postseason work.

    Re: “The Fix Is In”

These officials are ruining our game.

This taunting judgement call is an absolute joke and it's not funny.

That call should be immediately taken away.

We see extensive celebration and that's fine ..... however to be honest doesn't that border on taunting if you are attempting to limit it.

The game is an intense event making it almost impossible not to vent and celebrate.

Go through what's required as an athlete to even be on that field and this bologna would never be considered.

We all love this game .... this stuff just guts it.

You wait all week to see your team ........... everybody can fill in the blank on how they feel about it.

Watching and loving this game for well over 60 years .... this nonsense just destroys the joy.

I want to win or lose on my own .....

The league’s officiating department is standing by referee Tony Corrente’s controversial taunting call on Bears linebacker Cassius Marsh on Monday night.
In a video released by the league’s officiating department, Senior V.P. of Officiating Perry Fewell said that the call against Marsh was correct, and the officials will continue to enforce the point of emphasis against taunting.

“He takes several steps toward the Pittsburgh bench, posturing toward their sideline. Taunting is a point of emphasis to promote sportsmanship and respect for opponents. This was recommended by the competition committee and coaches,” Fewell said.

Fans and players have complained about the taunting point of emphasis, but the NFL’s decision-makers don’t seem interested in making any changes. Expect taunting flags to continue, whether fans and players like it or not.

The taunting rule now prohibits “posturing” at the opposing sideline, language of the rulebook be damned

Told every fan in the family the same.

I believe calls like that deserve further investigation.

These obvious terrible calls just destroy the joy of watching the game.
You always have to wait and see if these morons have thrown a flag.
