    Marquez Stevensons punt returns

    https://www.buffalorumblings.com/202...s-punt-returns

    Return 1

Its hard to see everything on returns, even with the All-22 angles, but theres usually enough to look at what lanes might be available and what primary threats there are to the returner. The Saints have a gunner come free and Marquez Stevenson has run out of time to call for a fair catchnot that I think he would have...or should have. But I wouldnt blame a returner for it in this situation by any means.
Instead, Marquez takes the ball and has to decide where to take it. In my opinion, while theres more green to his right its fools gold and cutting straight ahead is the wisest choice. This return gained 11 yards.

    Return 2

I point out that the decision to call a fair catch or not needs to be made well before the ball is actually caught on this punt. There’s a lot of information to juggle while also looking skyward to track the ball. This is another case where I like the decision to field the ball and run. Stevenson does a little cut to the bottom of the screen then bursts ahead. This return gained ten yards.

    Return 3

Similar to the last return, you’re calculating the trajectory of the ball while also trying to figure out who is being blocked and who isn’t. Stevenson gambles that the two-on-one block to his right will hold off the Saints’ gunner. This turned out to be a bad guess. Had the block held he has a bit of room to gain more than the one yard he had here.

    Return 4

This is a lot like the last return, with a big difference that the block goes a lot better. He’s able to wiggle through some clutter and gain nine. It’s even more impressive, while also being a lot less impressive because...

    Return 4 (Broadcast view)

He let the ball hit the turf. It’s a great recovery from a bad start.

    Return 5

It’s hard to find fault with this 18-yard return. So I won’t.

As long as he doesn’t fumble, I really don’t care.

Will be interesting to see if that was just a one game "message sent" for McKenzie, or if the job is now Stevenson's to lose.
Wake up, brush your teeth, and get ready for a day of hating the Dolphins. Or the Pats? How to choose?

Fumble would be a disqualification for me.

Yes it will because McKenzie contributes in more areas including ST.

I wouldn't mind seeing McKenzie get more opportunity.

I'm sure if he does we'll get his very best because that's what's expected.

McK is on a 1-year deal. He's gone at the end of the season. Stevenson will replace him full-time now both on STs and in the offense.

True 1 year and very very likely gone ..... but I play him if he's best.

I'm disappointed as are most with McKenzie so far ... he's the vet ... if Speedy know's all the plays and can contribute I'm sure he should get another opportunity to prove it.

My son is already in Speedy's camp.

Is Beasley’s deal up after this season? Wasn’t Sanders a 1 yr deal? We might see significant changes at WR next season.

BUT NOT EARL IN THE DRAFT!!!!!

There will be changes ..... maybe we retain one or both but I highly doubt it.
Speedy will take one spot and Hodgins may fill the other.

He should know them. And he's been injured the whole season so this would be his first opportunity.

Davis has a spot. Not sure if Hodgins is any good. Stevenson… isn’t he tinyish?

With Speedy as a nickname small kind of goes with it usually or that's at least what I thought.

    He is 5ft.10 ...... 180 lbs. ...... 4.45

He's always been the fastest human being on every one of his teams, from elementary school right on through college and, no, he doesn't expect NFL cornerbacks to hang with him, either. His 40 time (4.45) isn't too shabby but fails to tell the full story.

    Re: Marquez Stevensons punt returns

Hodgins so far at least appears to be the unluckiest with his tendency for injury.
We will draft a WR and or rent another small quick vet.
