    Ex-Sabres enforcer does a 180

In an interview for Ken Campbell's Hockey Unfiltered, former Sabres F Andrew Peters(who also co-hosted The Enforcers on WGR)says he's now having second thoughts on fighting still being in hockey. "There's no real pride in what I did", Peters notes at one point in the profile. He adds that, so far, he's avoided the problems that former enforcers have when they exit hockey mainly because he started taking better care of himself.

So the enforcer who lost all his fights didn’t take pride in what he did? Come on.

I think it was Peters who once was asked "if you could do it again, would you?" And he responded with "absolutely not"

Dude was a second round pick. Who scouted him?

Also, **** Peters for fighting Emery

    Re: Ex-Sabres enforcer does a 180

Also, it's a moot point now. Enforcers no longer exist.

When they changed the rules to increase offense after the lockout in the early 2000's, enforcers became a luxury teams can't afford. Enforcers were fighters first and hockey players second. Now, there's no more checking line. There are no more players who can knock your teeth out but can barely skate. After that lockout, there were a few guys like Peters and Donald Brashear (and I apologize to Brashear for putting Peters in the same category as him) that were still on rosters, but no one has drafted or signed an enforcer in at least 15 years. Teams need 4 lines that can skate and score.

Sure, teams still have guys that will punch you in the face if you mess with their goalie or star players. Teams still have some guys that will drop the gloves when most won't. But they are all on the roster because they contribute as hockey players.

As far as fighting in hockey, it has to stay. It's a rough sport with a lot of physical contact. Guys have to know there will be a price to pay for crossing the line. I was at the game when Ovechkin shoved Briere head first into the boards. Gaustad immediately dropped the gloves and started punching Ovechkin in the face. If he didn't, on the next shift, Ovechkin would have done the same thing to Drury or Pominville.

I miss the Bob Proberts, Gino Odjicks and Krystoff Oliwas of the league.

Hell I miss tough gritty defenseman like Ulf Samuelsson.

Peters couldn't do a 180, he would fall down every time. I'm calling shenanigans...

Marty McSorley made sure if anyone touched Wayne, he’d kill them.

Different time, different place. In those days, teams needed enforcers to protect their stars. Peters was the last generation of enforcers, and he wasn’t even good at it. Peters doesn’t even deserve to be in a discussion with guys like McSorley and Brashear.
