Connecticut High School Hockey Player Dies.

    Wow this sucks...

    RIP Teddy...

Connecticut high school hockey player dies after accidentally getting hit by opponent's skate

The player was identified by St. Luke's School as Teddy Balkind on Friday.

A 10th-grade hockey player from Connecticut died after another player's skate cut his neck, according to school officials and police. St. Luke's School, one of the teams involved, identified the player as Teddy Balkind on Friday.

The incident occurred Thursday during a game between Brunswick School's junior varsity team and St. Luke's. Balkind fell to the ice and the player who eventually cut him couldn't stop before impact, Greenwich Police Capt. Mark Zuccerella said Friday. The game was stopped at that point, as Balkind was transported to Greenwich Hospital.

Nor former Niagara IceDogs goalie Tucker Tynan a couple of seasons ago; I happened to be at the game where it happened-fortunately, I was seated at the other end of the rink and didn't get a good view of the incident. His upper leg was sliced open by the skateblade of someone on the London Knights. After what seemed like an eternity, Tynan was stretchered off the ice and the game was abandoned.

Tynan is in his own serious issues here

I just noticed it. His current team(the Soo Greyhounds)is staying quiet on the allegations.

I was sitting in a bar in front of a tv when that happened. Wow.

Back to the topic at hand: Bruins player Patrice Bergeron was seen before tonight's game against Montreal hanging a Bruins sweater with Balkind's name on it(and the number 5)above the Bruins bench; they also held a moment of silence for him before the game. TNT was also showing a number of NHLers putting a hockey stick or two outside their doors in Balkind's honor; the broadcast did likewise but with the sticks balanced against the hockey net on the pregame show's set.
