IF this list is correct. . . .

IF this list is correct, then honestly, we should probably seek to resign McKenzie, Bates, Addison, Philips, and Wallace. The rest are all extremely expendable.

Here is that list, tell me who you'd try to keep and who you'd part ways with:

Re: IF this list is correct. . . .

I'd keep McKenzie and get him on the field in the slot more, I'd keep Bates, he's the starting left guard. Phillips for DT rotation, and Boettger for young depth.

I'd like to keep Hughes cheaper and for rotational snaps.

    Bye to the rest.

Currently 10 plus million cap space. Some contracts n Ed massaging and some expensive wood needs to be whittled off.

can’t cut Edmunds or Milano (29 mil dead cap)

id sign Sanders for the 1.75 he took last season.

old guys goodbye and Take Epenesa with ya.

McKenzie and Philips are top priority.

    Addison if there's space.

    I like Bates versatility.

Obada, Neal and Boetteger are ok depth if they are cheap.

Wallace too, but paid as a backup.

Cutting Beasley is a 6 mil savings. I'm using that money on McKenzie.

    Frankly I consider cutting:

    Morse - 7 mil savings
    Beasley - 6 mil
    AJ Klein - 5 mi
    Feliciano - 3.5
    FOrd - 1.5

That's like 24 mil in savings. Resign McKenzie for much less to replace Beasley. Revamp the line (Feliciano i like, but he isn't reliable)

I would bring back Boettger (back up depth), Wallace (Tre' might not be ready to start the system and beyond Jackson/Lewis there is nobody in the pipeline), Obada and Zimmer (need guys to rotate), McKenzie, Phillips, Bates and Dodson. Maybe Neal for special teams. If there are cheaper, equal or better options out there they aren't going to be experienced free agents but rather young UDFA's, so they can earn a spot in camp and replace the above if they are good enough.

Sucks to lose Hughes and Addison, but if they don't come cheap we've got other units we need to spend money on, not to mention a couple of guys that are going to cost (McKenzie, maybe Phillips and Wallace).

Tre definitely not ready… what week we lose him? Figure a year or maybe 11 mos.

Re: IF this list is correct. . . .

Don't get the love for McKenzie.

He's nothing special. He can stay or go, but relying on him to do anything Sunday after Sunday is idiocy.

I wouldn't bring back Sanders and I'd go out and draft a guy in the ilk of Tyreek Hill to replace him. Doesn't need to be first round but I'd love to see Chris Olave in a Bills uniform.

I'd still bring back Hughes if he'd take a friendly contract. He's still serviceable in a pass rushing role and for the right dollars, I'd reward him with one more short term deal. 1 or 2 years at most.

No use for Levi Wallace, he's not a slot corner and he just isn't good enough on the outside. Bringing in a corner is a huge priority this offseason.

Keep Bates at worst for depth but if he has to start for another year, I'm OK with that.

    Harrison Phillips is solid.

Neal is a solid special teamer.

    That's about it.

Phillips is now the starting DT beside Ed. So he'll be back as more than just depth.

Boettger's injury will make him unsignable by any one else. We don't need to resign him but it'd be a dick move to let him twist in the wind. I suspect he gets signed and IR'd during camp - achilles are more than 12-18 month recoveries so he's a 2023 guy if he ever recovers.

Wallace depends on price, he's been passable as a number 1 against **** teams, as a number 2CB he's above average. He's also the kind of overachiever that outworks everyone and that mentality is important. Also looking at the available CBs I don't see better options in our price range.

Obada has had some good snaps and no memorably awful ones. He's cheap, versatile, a freak athlete that's still learning the position, plus a super good dude - he'll get an offer.

Addison was still effective, but it'd need to be cheaper like Jerry and it's probably one or the other. If Hughes retires, I'd be fine with Addison back on a cheaper 1 year deal.

Sanders at $6 million is actually a tough contract to beat if we are trying to add a WR to replace him, I'm not sure it's needed but he's good insurance at a fair price.

Zimmer as the 4th DT - meh, I could see him at camp competing with a rookie or June 1st FA

The easiest ones are Butler and Jones since they don't contribute much and are very expensive for their position/performance.

I know you like the pressure stat a lot but Addison was really poor against KC. Overran his rush lanes, didn't keep contain, and was just too slow laterally.

Fortunately for his fans, he didn't flash the peace sign while he was doing so, and so because it wasn't taunting the league didn't see any need to discipline him. Priorities people, priorities. . . .

I only mention Olave because I'm pretty sure everyone should know who he is.

But you don't need to go that route. You could go with Calvin Austin III out of Memphis in the 3rd round.

Who among these would you like to retain for 1 year or more?

McKenzie, Phillips, Bates for me with consideration given to Boettger, Neal and Wallace.
