USFL debuts tonight with a three-point option after touchdowns

    https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...er-touchdowns/

We’ve posted a few items in recent weeks about the unique rules of the USFL, which debuts tonight. From a fourth-and-12 alternative to onside kicks to a two-point shootout in lieu of standard overtime to defensive pass interference not being a spot foul unless egregious to no 10-yard chains to measure first downs, there are plenty of differences between the four-letter upstart and the three-letter behemoth.

Here’s another. In addition to the NFL-style (and distance) one- and two-point options, a team that scores a touchdown can go for three. The ball gets placed at the 10. Get it into the end zone, and six points become nine.

Joke league, not going to last.
I am still mad at myself for that, for being convinced at one point in time, that the prime minister was a honest and good person ,when, in truth, he would so casually lie to the public and then think he could get away with it.

The NFL and NCAA own football in the US.

XFL, USFL, CFL teams south of the border... it's all doomed to fail.

It was still snowing in a good portion of the country this week. And in a few short weeks it'll be 90 degrees in most of the country. No one is going to pay money to sit out in those weather conditions and watch 3rd rate football, especially when we are used to seeing the very best football in the world.

Oh, it's also worth mentioning that MLB is in full swing, the NBA playoffs have started and the NHL playoffs are about to start. So, there's a lot of competition out there in the sports world this time of year.

I just don't understand why someone smart enough to earn enough money to invest in the USFL would also be dumb enough to actually do it.

Watching today's NO vs TB game on and off...

This doesn't even resemble good football.

It amazes me how college can have good football games with compelling moments and then we go to these attempts at spring football and they all just completely suck.

Re: USFL debuts tonight with a three-point option after touchdowns

The USFL has shown that it can hold its own with other spring sports, such as the Premier League, the NHL regular season, Formula One, and Major League Soccer.Jon Miller of NBC, which televised half of the game, described the product as “profitable.” Mike Mulvihill of Fox said that the USFL (which is owned by Fox) proved that it can compete in the category with other spring sports.
Next year, the XFL returns. It begins earlier than the USFL, and it benefits from a partnership with ABC and ESPN.
To little surprise, ESPN ignored the existence of the USFL, much like it did with the NHL before it acquired the TV rights. (Again, it’s The Worldwide Leader in Sports . . . That We Televise.) Next year, with ESPN propping up the XFL and ignoring the USFL, how will the USFL fare?
