A bit frustrated we couldn't retain him at G/T, esp with Spencer Brown being only okay as a rookie / being a non-participant this spring.

Spencer brought our OLine grade down to below avg. I get he was a rookie, but why not continue to push him with a starter-caliber.
Lucky bugger..
He gets to touch the holy shroud of Mac Jones..

It’s fantastic to see the roles reversed. Was a time that the Pats were the kings of the AFC East and other teams (like the Bills) ate up their rejects.
Williams is done as a starting O-lineman. And he was not good enough (and too expensive) to be a backup on the Bills. The Pats can have hm.

Williams is a trash can.
He was a raw rookie who didn't get starting reps but was thrown into the fire early-on. He's got his rookie year behind him and a year in the S&C program, plus he's getting better coaching. I don't think he's the type who need to be pushed, like most McBeane picks aren't.
Yeah. The Bills kicked him to the curb. I thought for sure they'd bring him back on the cheap.
I agree.

Won't miss him.

They did nothing this off-season with vet tackles, other than Quessenberry (a 31 year old that really only has 4 years experience mostly at guard?) and bringing back Hart.
A little scary thin on experience for the bookends.

Williams was useful at guard ..... tackle in a pinch and that's about it.
We didn't lose much if you're being honest.
The Patriots signed Darryl Williams... a center from the Chiefs. Our Darryl Williams is still a FA.

I'll laugh at the change in tone if he ends up coming back.
Williams was more than solid for us.
Actually, the O-Line had huge changes, like the D-line.
The start of 2021 season had the O-line starters....
LT - Dion Dawkins
LG - Jon Feliciano - GONE
C - Mitch Morse
RG - Cody Ford - On the bench
RT - Daryl Williams - GONE
The probable starting lineup for O-line in 2022....
LT - Dion Dawkins
LG - Rodger Saffold
C - Mitch Morse
RG - Ryan Bates
RT - Spencer Brown
That represents a 60% change in starters.
Actually, 2020 was his better season when he took over at RT. He was one of the better RTs in the league that year. Last year, he struggled a bit as he kept bouncing back and forth between RT and G and then when the team switched to a pin/pull scheme, it wasn't a fit for him. Bates, Dawkins and Brown thrived in that situation. Morse was his solid self. Even so, they tried Sweeney at RT so they could keep Williams at G because Ford was such a liability there, not because Williams was not a good RT.

I'm looking forward to seeing Dawkins not being hampered by COVID for most of the season, Brown's taking the next step at RT, Bates finally starting but at RG, what Saffold can add and what Kromer can do with the whole bunch. My concern is with Saffold because of his age and injuries. Apparently if he gets hit a certain way, his arm goes numb.
On the other hand though, Beane has shown he has an eye for value here and there (well also with some inexplicable like Bobby Hart and such). They have 10 tackles on the roster, with Doyle in line to be the swing tackle. It's a good chance to build younger.
Indy and Dallas both built dominant OL's in a similar way, instead of recycling aging vets. It might be a good thing. Injuries will always be a crapshoot.
