Signs point to Mitch Trubisky starting

Even though the Steelers used a first-round pick on the replacement for Ben Roethlisberger, Pickett apparently won’t be taking Roethlisberger’s place right away.
Mark Kaboly of TheAthletic.com, in assessing the various offensive players currently on the team, expresses a belief that “it’s difficult to imagine a scenario” in which Mitch Trubisky doesn’t begin the season as the starter — barring injury or horrendous performances in camp or the preseason.

That shouldn't surprise anyone.

The Bears were too incompetent to figure out how to use him. The Bills have Josh Allen. That's why he didn't play much. He's no Josh Allen but he is capable of being a starter.

Me too. He got a raw deal in Chicago. Pittsburgh is a better organized, more talented franchise.

Pickett is going to start this year.

Trubisky thought he was going somewhere where he had the chance at being a long term starter, only to find out that he's never going to be a long term starter in this league again.

There are several possibilities though. Yes, Tubisky is near the top of the list. But there are stories out there about...

1) Russell Wilson in Denver will be interesting to watch
2) Dolphins giving Tua all the rope to hang himself (professionally, of course).
3) Jared Goff. Yes I said it. Based off this LINK. It could happen.
4) Jalen Hurts arrives on the scene for the Eagles (reference same link).
5) Trey Lance progresses (reference same link).
6) How will Wentz do in Washington?
7) How will Ryan do in Indianapolis?
8) The Cowboys saying Prescott ready for his best season as a Pro
9) Carr gets a new, high-powered offensive head coach.
10) Herbert (SD), Jones (NE), Wilson (Jets) all being watched to step up.
11) Will Joe Burrow progress to step into the rarified air that Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes now stand in? Or will teams be better prepared for him this year?
12) Daniel Jones gets a new, offensive minded coach. Does the light switch on for him this year?

So many interesting QB stories going on this season.

Disagree on one: Washington. That organization is such a disaster. You could put Mahomes or Allen on that team and they still wouldn't win.

As far as Trubisky, we were lucky last year. Many teams struggle to find one QB capable of starting. We had 2. Fortunately we didn't need him, because clearly Allen is the much better option. But, if Allen were to miss any time this season, I'm a lot less confident that the guys we have now can hold down the fort for a few games.

I'm not so sure Trubisky is really that good. There, I said it. I don't think he's bad, but I think he falls into the middlin' "style of offense" range.

Glad it isn't us trying to figure it out, wish him well, not really worried about facing him guiding an opponent offense.
