Tonight is a pretty big one. Can't fight to get back to mediocre and then fall back against a team they should beat. I hate to say something is a must win in mid December, but that's exactly what this game is.

Only five points back of the Isles for the last wildcard spot. Arizona is pretty good at home*

It's a statistical fact that teams in a playoff position at Thanksgiving make the postseason over 3/4s of the time. Hard to believe, but that's a fact.

Here's something interesting: Anyone notice how good, record-wise, the Sabres are when Mattias Samuelsson IS in the lineup compared to when he's NOT?

It's slowly getting better but that 8 game skid earlier basically put them behind the 8 ball for taking a jump this year. 3 D-Men missing a lot of time with backups filling in. Shaky goaltending for a stretch. Bad on faceoffs and losing in the corners.

There is work to do but they can score. That's a good start.
