Good news. They can't blow another 3rd period lead tonight.

Went to the game. Had dinner with Lecter and Chern. Was a great time and a Great game.

The ceremony was great. They didn't overdo it too badly (though of course RJ was the main voice for a portion of it. When the Sabres have something, they run it till it's dead)

Still, was really nice and I had some moments, especially when they highlighted that 06 run where I had emotions running through me.

    Very nice.

Also, you can not buy a Goathead jersey to save your life.

UPL looked real good. He didnt look as good as Sorokin, but Sorokin might be the best goalie in the league, so the bar was high.

Dramatic win. Theat was one quick OT goal.

Playoff chances slim but still possible. They need to get angry at home and not play so tight. Part of growing as a team, I suppose. Next season should see more new faces at forward and D. Goltending needs to stabilize but UPL does offer hope. He's still young and can improve. Cromrie needs to get well and earn his keep.

I'm still bullish long term. They were so unwatchable for a long time. From last March through today, they are an ascending organization.

The arena was also buzzing. It was really great to see the fans pack the house and get loud.

    The fanbase is starving.

One of the nearest parts of last night's pre game ceremony came from Pegula. He told a story of when he bought the team, he went to Miller's condo and asked about some players around the league: hardest to play against, most respected, ect. He said Miller got up, went to his study and brought back notebooks that he shared with Pegula that was literally pages and pages of notes on players and plays and diagrams. He was truly a student of the game. Incredible

Lecter likes to drop his tickets and watch you pick them up, watch out.

Off to a good start. They need to bury these bad teams.

They're like your child that does something to make you proud one minute then turns around and embarrasses you throwing a temper tantrum in public the next minute.

Nice 3rd period. Put a bad team away. We just have to put up with the up and down play for now. The kids will grow up soon enough. Six goals with only 1 point from Tage. Nice to see other guys contributing.

    Re: 2022-2023 Sabres Thread

Glad to win at home, where they struggle. Up 2-0 with lots of energy, then rookie mistakes by Quinn, Power and a couple soft goals by UPL has it tied at 3-3. Then a great 3rd period. Lyubushkin had a fantastic game, in addition to the obvious 2 goal games by both Victor O and Krebs.

Victor O has improved immensely the last several weeks after looking like a big D liability and PP player only. Someone got into his head. Love Krebs. He always hustles and dropped the gloves to fight when the game was tied, waking up the crowd and the team.

Now comes a 4 game road trip.

A very tough 4 game road trip. 2-2 would be great.

Agreed, but the kids growing up won't fix the obvious missing link in the defense. Lyubushkin played better today, but they need a veteran, stay-at-home defenseman ala Jay McKee. They need a face-off guy. They need a vet goaltender. While this is great Sabres hockey compared to the past 5 seasons, look at what the NJ Devils have done with their young core. They got a veteran goaltender and Palat. And play Lindy Ruff hockey. They are one of the top 5 teams in the league, their turnaround in about the same time as the Sabres.

Not complaining, just saying there are things Kevyn Adams can do at this trade deadline to jettison this team into the play-offs. I don't expect he will. He does have chips to use in Portillo and Ryan Johnson though.
