I think this Tage guy might work out.
"'Clean up your room.', 'Stand up straight.', 'Pick up your feet.', 'Take it like a man.', 'Be nice to your sister.', 'Don't mix beer and wine, ever.'. Oh yeah, 'Don't drive on the railroad track.'"

"Eh, Phil. That's one I happen to agree with."

Tage is becoming a true superstar. Love seeing this on national TV. The Cozens/Quinn/peterka line is a legit 2nd line. It’s been ages since the Sabres had a true star and a 2nd line.

No doubt. And he's likeable on top of it.

I didn't realize that's Krebs first goal of the season. He should probably be in Rochester.

Should we trade for some 3rd line pieces & a super goalie now ?

Too little, too late for this season. But the future is promising

We’re 6 points out of a playoff spot with 56 games left / 112 possible points to be gained. We’ve outscored the entire league, by a margin. Where did we fail if we play .600 hockey ongoing for 102 points ?? Wouldn’t the new talent help us get there or better ?? We can’t play .600 while out scoring the entire league ?? You’re crapping on common sense here, this isn’t some tiny sample as well. Boston is 2nd in GF, they’re up against the cap. We have $17 Million in cap space, we need the best goalie possible & get our GA down. We wouldn’t lose if it was down 20% less. Boston has lost 3 games in regulation after 26 games, they’ve scored less than us.

First round playoff tickets with at least 3 home games would generate $12 Million minimum. We make round 2, it’s $25 Million, plus they pump next year season tickets so the chairs are filled. You try to get Bills tickets lately ?? You can’t inexpensively. There’s a market for winning, Pegs is a Billionaire & whatever is going on health wise tells me our 40 year window of stable ownership isn’t there. I’m looking at a decades plus, we need some real trophies. Some hardware, I’m not getting younger. Pull up a chair, tell me I’m wrong.

9-4 final. UPL did let in a couple of soft goals. Anderson should be playing next.

I'm a firm believer in the billy beane philosophy. 27 games to see what you have. 28 to see if you can fix it. 27 to see if it worked. Coming up to that 27 game mark.

The issue is the market hasn't settled itself. There are some good players available though.

The first rule is any firsts moved HAS to be top 10 protected. This draft is up there with 03 and 15 in terms of quality and depth.

One player I like is Matt dumba from the wild. He's 28 RHD. Hes a pending UFA and very solid. The wild can not retain him due to salary cap miscues. They might want to shed his salary to use it elsewhere. No idea what the asking price is, but I would definitely inquire if he was available, price, and willingness to extend

"Willingness to extend" is the key. The Sabres have a good young core and players seem to like Granato and Adams. But let's be realistic. We've been the dregs of the league for a decade. Have we turned the corner and become a place where players want to be? It feels like we are moving in that direction but I'm not sure we are there yet.

I also know Brock boeser is on the block and I read that he could be sold low (2nd round pick or maybe a 3rd)

He's youngish and pretty good. The issue is... Do the sabres need more scoring? Probably not. Unless you can move out dead weight with him.

    Re: 2022-2023 Sabres Thread

UPL still let in some soft goals last night. He's had only 20 starts in the NHL and the plan was another year in Rochester. Cromrie injury changed that.

Sabres reporter Paul Hamilton stated this morning that the pipeline is still the main focus of this GM. There is no #1 type Goalie out there for trade. So Cromrie will eventually get well and return. UPL is getting thrown to the wolves right now and Anderson will retire for good in a few months.

Levi is still in college and NOT under contract yet. Until he signs, it's all ssumption and he'd need Rochester time in their eyes next year.

Also, the forwards need to play better D. Glad the scoring is way up but getting caught pinching in deep and giving up an inordinate number of 2 on 1 breaks is killing them. Plus the low % on faceoffs.

Lots of fundamental work still needs to produce results. The playoffs are still a year away. That recent 8 game losing streak buried them deep.
