I don't think we see kulich unless a bunch of guys go down. The sabres regime seems to favor marinating young guys in the AHL over past regimes

Now that was a great hockey game.

        3 stars (in my opinion):

        1 - Comrie
        2- Okposo
        3 - Varlamov

Cozens with leadership, teamsmanship by staring at an open net and passing it to Skinner for the empty netter. Classy, smart move to seal the door shut.

Quinn is going to be a star for this team.

Can’t comment too much on this one. I watched it on my iPad while doing chores around the house so I wasn’t paying a lot of attention. The O left a lot to be desired with only 1 goal that wasn’t a EN. Still, can’t complain about a shutout.

Playoffs seem like an impossibility after the last 3 weeks, but just keep winning and hope for the best.

Do we see Levi on Tuesday?

We played a great defensive game & had patience with no panic, I mean my God if we had anywhere near this type of defense throughout the year we’d be in the playoffs already.

From someone who watched the whole thing....

The Islanders goaltender could easily get first star for the game. He robbed the Sabres on great scoring chances repeatedly. The offense was fine. I though all 4 lines had multiple scoring chances.

On the backside, the Sabres played a complete game - read that as they were better defensively, getting back and disrupting scoring chances and breaking up the Islanders box when they went on offense.

Read this article. It tells the story:

I don’t know how Semyon Varlamov wasn’t the first star because Buffalo created numerous Grade-A scoring chances, but he was there to rob them multiple times. Varlamov made 33 saves on 34 shots with the only goal against him a broken play.
Paul Hamilton couldn’t be more impressed with how the Buffalo Sabres handled their back-to-back games against the New Jersey Devils and New York Islanders this weekend. Read more of his postgame thoughts here:

I enjoyed this game as much as some of those high scoring shoot-outs, especially watching the last ten minutes or so (from Okposo's goal) tick away on the Islanders. The Sabres needed this one and got it. This was just the sort of game they've been losing all season.

They had a long losing string the last time Samuelsson was out. He's out again and they started losing again.

                    A. They need to fix that. Draft a Samuelsson clone or something.

                    B. The team needs to show themselves they can win with him out. Maybe these back-to-back wins show them that.

Am I the only one watching against the Habs tonight? I was doing other stuff during the first but I’m watching the 2nd. Sabres we’re looking damn good but fell apart around the 2 min mark. Fortunately they are uo 3-2 but have a minute of PK at the start of the 3rd.

Overall, though they look good. Crisp passing, sustained offensive zone time, scoring chances, far fewer defensive lapses and good goaltending when they do happen.

                        A 3rd period lead given away. That's a shock.

Olofson leading off the shot out was really stupid.

The whole list of shooters was stupid.

                              Oloffson
                              Peterka
                              Tuch
                              Quinn
                              Mittelstadt
                              Cozens

And no Jeff Skinner or Dahlin?

List should have been something like:

                              Cozens
                              Quinn
                              Tuch
                              Dahlin
                              Skinner
                              Peterka

                              Terrible list by Granato.
