    Re: 2022-2023 Sabres Thread

Next season I say roll with Levi and a vet that's not on the team right now. I don't see a good reason to start him in Rochester this fall. Split the playing time to start and see how it goes. I honestly think Adam's feels the same way. It's why he didn't get a legitimate goalie in the off-season.

But, I said it before and I'll say it again: It's so frustrating how this team doesn't show up in these big games. This was Florida, not Boston. Talent-wise they are not much better than us, if at all. All they had to do was beat a mediocre team. Instead, they managed just one goal and they got their rookie goalie barraged with shots.
They outshot Florida. They just got goalied

        Progress for sure. (scoring).

Young players have to get tougher and learn how to play better in their own end. That's what is keeping them out of the post-season. Long stretches of panic in their own end. Can't clear the puck. PK unit is bad. Still bullish. Put in the work and improve.

Levi had his "clunker" statistically speaking. Every game is a learning experience for him and I love it.

And they actually came through and won an important game.

For sure. Levi is fine. Even if he gives up 9 goals in 14 shots next game, its fine. It's a process. There are going to be potholes. There are going to be growing pains.

He's going to be just fine.

Well like you said. It’s a huge step from college to the AHL and a huge step from the AHL to the NHL and Levi skipped that stepping stone.

He isn’t an NHL star yet. He made mistakes. But he also does good things that guys with a lot more experience - like UPL- do not do. Just 3 games in… he doesn’t look overwhelmed. He looks like he belongs. He’ll get there.

There's a win they weren't supposed to get.

Damn. We are hosting Easter and we have so much to do to prep that I totally forgot it was an early game.

At least we got the right outcome.

Dahlin had the best defensive play of his career so far and they took the lead on that puck possession directly afterward.

                        What a game he had.

                        And Mittelstadt.

I thought he should have been a goner in December but boy has he found his game as of late. If he's a bottom 6 guy going forward, our future is bright.

Next man who needs to get his game going is Power. He is getting outmuscled on the regular. But he's young like everybody else.

If they win out they can tie the NYI.

Start Levi back to back tomorrow? If they can steal another one in NJ they SHOULD win their last two.

I think they might have found a goalie.

If we win out and tie the Islanders in points, we would have more wins.
