We don't really have a choice at this point.

This was the only questionable offseason issue for me. We should have signed a veteran CB to hold down the fort and make sure we had more reliable depth.

    And here we are.

They basically gambled that we wouldn't have any more injuries in the secondary before White came back, and they lost.

Sure salary cap has something to do with it

I wonder if there's even anyone worth signing at CB. Rhodes is a big name, but does he have anything left?

Sure. I just kind of wonder why they didn't prioritize it more, given the situation with White. I would have liked to have seen the money we spent on OJ Howard to have gone to a vet CB on a one year deal.

How many CBs do you figure you'll lose during a season, much less within the first 3 weeks? Considering Tre is supposed to come back after week 4.

    Me too.

It seemed a no brainer to sign a vet CB (at a reasonable cost) to bolster what was going to be a very young, inexperienced group.

The cap is no excuse. It is easily manipulated and making room for a glaring need seems simple.

Now, their backs are against the wall, and hopefully they can make a move quickly and bring someone like Rhodes into the fold and up to speed quickly.

Who was the CB Von was courting to be here?
Lou Saban: You can get it done, you can get it done. And what’s more, you’ve gotta get it done.

When Howard was signed Tre was out but was progressing nicely. They lost Levi but were comfy with Dane and Elam/Bedford with the backups.

who would be released when Tre comes back? The expensive vet?… who could predict Dane getting killed then Bedford going down?

Agree. It had nothing to do with young or inexperienced, and everything to do with an avalanche of injuries.

It's like saying we should have loaded up on players who wouldn't have gotten hurt.

We went into the season with the personnel they wanted. And it was working out fine. Then....injuries. It happens out of the blue.

I saw Joe Haden wanted to play for us but we were only offering league minimum. He's currently 'retired'. Might be time to pick the phone back up.

Right. They didn't ignore the position. They went into the season with 6 CBs on the roster, Tre on the PUP, and two more CBs on the PS. Our CBs might be young and inexperienced, but they've all played really well. Talent and depth hasn't been an issue, they've just been hit hard with injuries early. There's only so many players you can have at each position.
