Joe Ferguson was my favorite as a kid. People said he was aloof but he was always friendly and willing to sign autographs for all us kids at training camp in Fredonia. Reggie Mckenzie was always friendly with us too. Jerry Butler too. Roland Hooks was always nice to us as well.


Our great teams of course there's the regular names. Loved Jimbo even if he was a jerk as a young man. A tough life and a great wife have helped him become a much nicer guy.


Guys that stand out to me as favorites are guys that are good on the field but also really good people. Fred Jackson, Kyle Williams and now Josh. I'm sure there's more.

You’re free to feel that way but it’s honest. I really don’t try to attach myself to any one player. I would hate to one day begrudge a player because they made a decision that is in their own best interest by chasing money or feeling like they offended me in anyway if they did something I didn’t like or agree with.

That’s not even peeling the layers of the onion back about how we often put athletes on pedestals where every action on or off a field/court/etc is something for us to pass some fake judgement about.
