So often, they hurt themselves when they try to stop/cut and plant their foot in a sudden manner. We've all seen it. No one near them.
And the field surface isn't always the issue.
You wonder how someone like Barry Sanders could make all those sudden cuts/stops and not get hurt. We are all looking for something to blame but it's just the play and the athlete most times.
Anonymity is an abused privilege, abused most by people who mistake vitriol for wisdom and cynicism for wit
Correct, all four of my son’s ACL’s were non-contact cutting one way or another.
I think part of the problem is that they are training pretty much all year. Their bodies don’t get any real rest and recovery. The goal is bigger, stronger, and faster. Knees aren’t particularly built for all that.
Back in the day when they reported the camp to get in shape, we rarely heard about ACL’s, torn pecks Achilles snapping. Before anyone says it, yes players had these injuries, but not at the rate we are seeing them at all levels, high school, college, and the pros.
