Report- Packers not looking for multiple firsts, still negotiating with Jets - ProFootballTalk

Aaron Rodgers is set to make his first public comments of the week on Wednesday afternoon and there was a report about where things stand in trade discussions between the Jets and Packers before the quarterback’s appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that talks between the two sides are ongoing and that there has been no agreement on terms of a deal that would send Rodgers to the Jets for the 2023 season.

    Rodgers is a drama queen.

He has been for the past few years. I think he likes the attention from being a drama queen more than he likes playing football.

He went to the dark place 90% thinking he would retire.

    What a dumb ass.

It would be absolutely awesome if the negotiations broke down

GB could make this bleed for weeks.

Jets showed their hand and have zero leverage inow in terms of an actual deal. They'll pay dearly.

Rodgers should have stayed in the NFC. He's looking to score endorsement deals in NYC to make millions more before going to his retirement asylum or bat cave.

Re: Aaron Rodgers joining the Jets

Jets exposing themselves as the moron organization they are right now. How could they have let it get this far without knowing what GB wanted and being willing to pay that? They've already signed a guy Rodgers told them to get. They have no power in the negotiation and GB knows that. What a bunch of stooges.

Green Bay is going to have to pay Rodgers a $58.3 million option bonus if he is on their team at the Week 1 mark, it's not like the Jets don't have any leverage at all.

Adding Lewis and Lazard...maybe OBJ and even Cobb...to Wilson/Davis/Uzomah with Carter/Knight/Hall and the defense is a pretty healthy roster. There will be some opinions they will win the division.

Week 1 is a long time away. The Jets have all but said he's our QB. They can't wait months to make this move. It's a game of chicken at this point and time is on the Packers side. They're gonna give up pick 15. They have to now.

Re: Aaron Rodgers joining the Jets

If they offer the 15th pick they got slaughtered.

My guess 3rd round in the 2023 Draft and maybe something in 2024 like a 4th.

Re: Aaron Rodgers joining the Jets

Neither team really has the leverage. Packers have moved on and they don't want to pay the 58 million but they can wait till the very last minute. The Jets aren't going to say **** it and go in another direction. They need to get him in their building. Who blinks first?

Packers want first-round pick and more for Aaron Rodgers - ProFootballTalk

Per multiple sources, the Packers want a first-round pick and more from the Jets for Rodgers.
The Packers want more than a first-round pick as part of the base deal. They want protection in 2025, in the event Rodgers plays in 2024. And that’s more than the Jets believe they should surrender for a player the Packers no longer want.
If the Jets are willing to offer something like a conditional package that would entail as much as a second-round pick this year and up to a second-round pick next year, the Packers would be nuts to not take it.

If another team were to look at this chaos and swoop in with a better offer the NY press and Jets fans heads would explode

There have been variations of this here in respect that the “media” will crown the Jets favs to win AFCE.

I don’t think that is going to happen at all. In fact, I have been hearing the opposite from the media I have watched and read.

On GMFB, they always put questions like this to the panel...."If Rodgers joins the Jets, will they become the favorites to win the AFCE”? When they did, it was a universal “Nope”!

Ryan Leaf (yes, that Ryan Leaf) has become a regular guest on GMFB, and he brings unique and brutally honest insights to the table. He does not shy away from his colossal failure and being a bust QB draft pick.

In fact, that reality and ownership of why he was a bust is what makes his opinions so insightful and compelling.

Here is the segment from yesterday. He thinks that Rodgers going to the Jets is a big mistake, and that he is no match for Josh Allen.

This is the money quote about Josh Allen....

“Some people said it...I think Keyshawn said it the other day, “he goes to the Jets and he becomes the best QB in the division”. And I just....I just don’t get that.

Josh Allen is, by far, in my eyes, maybe the best QB in all of football.....besides Patrick Mahomes”.
