I’m pretty lucky between my pension and 401 im ableto wait until full retirement age to take SS!

Of course. You’re welcome for the cushy military pension. But, the realization that you ARE eligible for the system designed for old farts is the point.

62 was a couple of years after I realized that my thoughts of waiting until 70 to actually retire (not for financial purposes...I really enjoyed my career) caught up with reality.

When I was 60 years old, I thought....’yeah, I can work until I’m 70’.

When I turned 61 years old, I thought....’yeah, I can work until I’m 69’.

When I turned 62 years old, I thought....’yeah, I can work until I’m 68’.

When I turned 63 years old, I thought....’yeah, I can work until I’m 67’.

When I turned 64 years old, I thought....’yeah, I can work until I’m 66’.

When I started to approach 65 years old, I thought....’yeah, I’m DONE when I turn 65, when I qualify for Medicare’.

And I did. Literally retired 6 days after I turned 65. And I’m digging every moment of having not a care in the world. Although I still have dreams about work....usually about working trade shows....then I wake up and realize it’s a dream and all is good.

I won’t make it to 65. Will pay out wahzoo for insurances but social security will cover that.

First it’s a cushy federal government retirement and I’m already retired for a year now. I’m basically fine with just the pension. I really don’t need the SS so I’m going to wait until 65 the jump from 63-65 is pretty big.
