After losing one of the best LB’s in the NFL, Edmunds, the Bills had to retain Poyer for the defense to have a chance of being above average.
Additionally, Poyer found out that the market for him was not there like he expected, unlike Edmunds, that got even more than he was asking for, and the deal was one of the first in the NFL when the legal tampering period of FA opened.
It will be interesting to see when Poyer’s contract details come out.
With the uncertainty of Hamlin’s return, and the lack of depth at S, and the lack of interest from the NFL to pay Poyer big bucks, this result was beneficial for both sides.....again, subject to the contract details.
The Bills clearly kept the right players and let the right ones walk. Tremaine Edmunds the most over-rated piece of garbage LB ever to play. Now get rid of Oliver. He who had 6 or 8 good plays all of 2022.
Contract year for Ed let em play.

Our resident GM's and their guess of 20 Mil were WAY off.
His guarantee is only 7 Mil.
Anonymity is an abused privilege, abused most by people who mistake vitriol for wisdom and cynicism for wit
Jesus 7 million guaranteed is peanuts

Mmmmm humble pie
The market has spoken.
Even then, I don't know it is the right move for the Bills. They need to get younger there. Another year of Hyde and Poyer. We know what they can do. Just don't expect any positive surprise from safety position.
Sentimentally, I'm in on the move of resigning him. I really think Poyer did everything he could and beyond to be on the field for us last year.
The question I ask regrading Poyer on the Bills team or not is
1) the difference of the Bills making to the superbowl or not ------- my answer is no.
2) the difference of the Bills winning the regular season ---------- 10%
3) the difference of the Bills winning AFCE ------------------------- 20%
4) the difference of the Bills making the playoff -------------------no.
Bills resign Dane Jackson to a one year contract terms not disclose.

Yeah, the market HAS spoken.
Money talks and bullcrap walks.
Poyer was thinking that $10M was not enough (before the 2022 season, and even skipped OTA’s in a tantrum) and he wanted OUT (if not paid BIG BUCKS), and hired a new agent known for his aggressiveness. The Bills held firm and did not flinch.
When FA started, the Bills did not flinch. Wait and see what the Bills already knew. The market for Poyer was not even close to what he thought it was.
Edmunds, on the other hand, kept his mouth shut and let his agent to the talking. He knew that he was going to be in EXTREMELY high demand because he’s one of the best LB’s in the NFL and just approaching his prime.
Five excellent years under his belt and still only 25 years old (for the 2023 season).
I suspect that the Bills offered him relatively big bucks, but the smart thing for Edmunds was to hit the market and consider all offers. Did not take long for him to get that HUGE offer.
He reportedly was asking for $17 APY, and the Bears said...”how about $18M”!!!
Everything the Bills have said for years, and all the “insider” information was the same. The Bills loved Edmunds and wanted him back BADLY.
What too many people forget is that in FA its a two way street. A team may want a player, but that player may not want to be on that team.
The unhinged hatred and foolish ****ting on Edmunds from a select group of uninformed and ignorant "fans” was well known and Edmunds, Beane, McDermott, Frazier and other Bills payers have been asked about the insane hatred from reporters many, many times.
The response from ALL of them was always....basically, paraphrasing.....’these fans don’t now what they hell they are talking about, and the criticisms are pretty dumb and do NOT reflect how much we value Edmunds and his excellence and importance to the team’
Tremaine, undoubtably, has heard it all too. And stayed CLASSY through all the crap, unlike the classlessness of the haters.
It’s pretty easy to suspect that Edmunds was thinking...’why should I put up with this stupid ****, and take less money than other team are offering that WILL make me the best paid inside LB in NFL history’???
Yeah...he took the money, and left the haters to play with themselves thinking it’s such a great thing that an excellent LB is gone.
And he’s being welcomed with open arms by the Chicago fans. I perused some the Bears fans forums, and generally they are celebrating the signing of Edmunds with a LOT of comparisons of him to Brian Urlacher....one of the best LB’s in Bears history.
Yeah, the market HAS spoken. Money talks and bullcrap walks. Edmunds has the money and Poyer (if the reports are true) found out that his demands were bullcrap.
The haters certainly helped to chase Edmunds away. They are so proud of themselves, when, in reality, if they really cared about the Bills fielding the best team they can, should bow their heads in shame.
