And we still don't have a short yardage, between the tackles runner outside of Josh. That's not a good way to protect your franchise QB.

Harris joins a running back room that also houses second-year back James Cook and return man Nyheim Hines. On a one-year deal, Harris has a chance to join a contender and provide the Bills with the short-yardage running back they've been missing.

That is exactly what Harris is. The guy had 15 TD's in 2021. Those are carries where the QB basically says to the D at the LOS "WE'RE GIVING IT TO HARRIS OFF TACKLE" and he still scores.

That's cute but he wasn't that for NE, so I'm not sure where this writer gets that. That's why they got Stevenson. Harris is more like Hines.

    He's an outside runner.

And his injury history tells us he doesn't have the durability up the gut.

    Hell no.

Cook and Hines are speed backs.

    From Fox Sports: https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/damien-harris-player

    Heading to Buffalo
“The Bills and Harris agreed to terms on a one-year contract Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Impact After losing Devin Singletary to the Texans earlier Monday, the Bills were in need of reinforcements at running back. Harris is the first to join holdovers James Cook and Nyheim Hines. Considering that Cook and Hines ring in at 190 and 196 pounds, respectively, the 5-foot-11, 213-pound Harris becomes the top candidate for early down and short-yardage work with his new squad.”

Well, I hope so, but when I was watching NE, he didn't get used that way.

    If I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

A lot of his highlights were against our D. Probably why they signed him.

He's always hurt. Sad to see Motor go, his speed was an issue but his make you miss was top tier, unfortunately RBs rarely get second contracts with teams these days. Great teammate, wish him well in Texas.

I agree with you about Motor, if you look at my stat comparison in his thread, he just didn’t get enough carries.

Extremely good signing. This is an unmistakable upgrade from Singletary.

So far the Bills, with low profile economical FA signings have...

Upgraded LG by replacing Saffold with Connor McGovern
Upgraded RB by replacing Singletary with Harris
Upgraded at slot and depth WR by replacing McKenzie with Trent Sherfield
Upgraded at speedster depth WR and returner depth by replacing Brown with Deonte Harty
Solidified the secondary by retaining Poyer on a very team friendly contract.

With the draft still to come, the off season is going quite well considering the cap situation.

Bargain shopping works sometimes. The reality is it does not work every time and that needs to be factored into the equation from a roster construction standpoint (i.e., you need some redundancies) and fan expectation standpoint (of course the bargain bin guys won't matter so much if Josh is balling).

you are playing it pretty fast and loose with the “upgraded” assumptions.

Plus you missed the biggest one. Upgraded MLB by making sure that dud Edmunds was gone.

None of this matters anyway, because unfortunately Mel Kiper has the Bills picking RB B. Robinson at 27.

Only if you cherry pick a year that he did not play much.

He was injured in 2022 and only played in 11 games and was slowed down by the same injury when he was active. Still had a 4.4 yard avg. on 106 carriers.

In 2021 Harris was the Pat’s #1 RB, played in 15 games and gained 929 yards on 202 carries, a 4.6 average. With 15 TD’s and 8 “big” plays.

2022 Singletary was the #1 RB for the Bills, played in 16 games, with 819 yards on 177 carries the same 4.6 avg as Harris. He scored only 5 TD’s and 5 “big” plays.

Harris has burned the Bills with two 100+ yard games vs us in 2021. Had another 100+ yard game vs the Bills in 2020.

He is bigger and tougher than Singletary and is much better running between the tackles, Harris is an obvious upgrade for Singletary.

Gee.....that means we can already consider him on the team, huh???

I would LOVE to see Robinson fall to the Bills at #27. I would not bet 10 cents on that happening.

FA time is to fill needs. Draft is speculative. The Bills filled a need with Harris. Should not stop them from drafting a blue chip project like Robinson if he falls in our lap.

Just like signing FA LG McGovern does not preclude drafting O’Cyrus Torrence if he drops to us at #27 (which is a hell of a lot more likely than Robinson dropping).

Robinson falling to #27 would be akin to T Peter Skoronski dropping. If that happened the Bills would be foolish to pass on such a blue chip prospect.
