Wins are wins.

If they can build on them which they did tonight. I'm far from convinced they've turned the corner. The one thing that gives a little hope is they have a goalie winning games for them now. That covers up for a lot of other warts they have on offense. How nice would that be if UPL has reached a point where this is who he is now. Fingers crossed. They've got a very tough schedule the rest of the way. Finishing above .500 will be an accomplishment at this point.

UPL is now a top 10 goalie in the league. GAA anyways.

This dude is proving his worth and it's great to see. I couldbt be happier for him and the team for his growth.

Now to get the core scoring again.....

This just goes to prove the point that goalies need more time to cook and season; I, like way too many, thought UPL wasn't going to cut it(and granted, having double hip surgery so early in his career didn't help matters). Keep him as the #1 and Levi can enter as #2 when he outgrows the AHL(and Devon isn't doing too shabby down there, either).

Uh.... open your eyes to see the answer. This year there are a litany of losses where they needed just one more goal to either win or take a game to OT/SO to get the point. The Islanders have 14 OT losses vs the Sabres 4. That's 10 points in the standings. And the Islanders clearly don't have the supposed talent that the Sabres do, but they are still in the play-off hunt.

That 10 points isclearly due to poor motivation by their supposedly great coach. News flash: Granato isn't as great as Adams sells him to be. A better coach would be eeking out goals and standing points where this Sabres team has way, way too often come out of the gait lethargic, listless and sloppy.

The sabres jerk sam around. He wanted a change.

On the other hand, they got kulich and Levi out of it, so they still did pretty well, assuming those two continue to develop.

In fairness, I'm really curious how an alternate reality would have ended up if Reinhart had stayed.

The day after the trade, sam called Adams to basically say goodbye and he was sorry he didn't do more for the Sabres. Seemed really really classy

Last year, a bunch of young guys started scoring and the team played good hockey at the end of the season, but the goaltending and D wasn't there.
This year, the goalie got hot at the end of the season but the scoring to compliment it isn't there.

But it's the same thing: they start playing well when it's too late to matter.

No, last year they were in it pretty much all season. In fact, they got cold in March, but so did everyone around them.

Now that I got the *****ing out of the way above, that home hockey game against Carolina was fun to watch. The Sabres just kept coming and coming all game long. Yes, Carolina showed a bit of fatigue, but they were still a great team. I hope the Sabres can show the same level of compete tonight.

I spaced and forgot that the game was on so I only saw the last few min of the 2nd. 2-1 Panthers so the Sabres aren’t out of it. For some reason I can’t get the Sabres broadcast but the FL announcers have a lot of praise for UPL.
