LOL. I got home from work late last night. Just in time to see UPL implode over about 5 minutes where the game was ending and the score went from 5-1 to 5-4. What was up with that?

And I will say that some of those 3 fast Ottawa goals were not his fault, the Sabres couldn't stop the Senators from swarming over the top of their goaltender.

But he holds them to 1 goal for 55 minutes, then the flood gates open?

Nice to see Paul Hamilton saw the same thing...

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen was playing in his first game of the season and was stellar. Right off the bat he was steady, moving well and challenging the shooters. I understand he let in four goals, but once the Sens seized the momentum, there wasn't a goal I’d pin on him.

The more I think about it, the more I’m ok with this game. The Sabres were on the 2nd night of a back to back. Early on, Ottawa was taking it to them. They weathered the storm and dominated most of the game. The PK was great, IIRC the PP scored and was getting shots and zone time when they didn’t, the stars all got points.

It was dumb to fight up 4 goals on the road and it led to a couple of minutes of awful hockey in an otherwise good game.

Tomorrow's a good test. Against the Devils.

They can either beat a Stanley Cup contender in their building, get to .500 and begin their climb, or fall back and continue to have to expell energy to HOPEFULLY climb back into the race.

These are benchmark games and the Sabres have to, minimally, come away with a point.
