Rochester Americans move on to next series

This seemed to deserve it's own thread. Paul Hamilton on The Amerks dramatic comeback series win over Syracuse:

The Amerks dominated the Marlies scoring 19 goals in three games.

This is a HUGE win for the Sabres and their prospects. Deep runs bring out the best in the best. Dudes like Kulich and Rosen are having themselves a blast and developing well. This experience definitely prepares them for the next step.

And depending on what happens in the WHL, they may just get Savoie in on the fun this series

The OTHER Seattle team(the Thunderbirds)are on the verge of sweeping Winnipeg in the WHL finals; game 4 is tomorrow night. Insofar as Savoie, I'm not sure if they'd be able to get him into the lineup for the Amerks/Bears series.

As for the Amerks' young guns, do not be surprised if they play themselves into the Sabres lineup next season-depending on how training camp goes.

Re: Rochester Americans move on to next series

If you're wondering, here's the schedule for the Eastern finals:

Game 1: Tuesday 5/23 at Hershey, 7 pm
Game 2: Thurs. 5/25 at Hershey, 7 pm
Game 3: Sat. 5/27 at Rochester, 7:05 pm
Game 4: Mon. 5/29 at Rochester, 6:05 pm(side note: Downtown Rochester is going to be crazy; the Red Wings are hosting Syracuse for a 4:05pm Memorial Day game.)
    Game 5: Wed. 5/31 at Hershey, 7 pm(if necessary)
    Game 6: Fri. 6/2 at Rochester, 7:05 pm(if necessary)
    Game 7: Mon. 6/5 at Hershey, 7 pm(if necessary)

And it should also be noted that this is the oldest rivalry in the AHL.

Tickets go on sale Monday(5/22)at 10am.

The Western Conference finals aren't set yet; Texas leads Milwaukee 2-1 in their series, while Calgary & Coachella Valley are tied 2-2. Both series continue Friday night(the Calgary/Coachella Valley one will end tomorrow; the Milwaukee-Texas series could wrap up.)

Savoie will join the Amerks, but many beat writers say it's extremely unlikely he will get any games. It'll just be practicing with the guys and getting that pro taste

Damn. Hershey is only a few hours from me. I’ve seen the Amerks there before.

But we are in Italy so the first game I’d be able to make is game 5.

Well...Savoie HAS, in fact, joined the Amerks, but Lance Lysowski of the News just noted that there IS a chance that Matt will see game action. He will get some practice time with the Amerks and get acclimated, THEN have the chance to play himself into the lineup. Keep in mind Matt's been in playoff mode for a while. Shane Wright is in the same situation with Coachella Valley.

I think even just practicing with an AHL team is a huge plus

Sabres are fielding a damn good looking future roster however you slice it, no way we pay all these guys big & I’d expect our roster members to hoist a cup. Sabres night do so as well, 2 chances this playoff year now.

Re: Rochester Americans move on to next series

    Two things:

    1. Tickets for Game 3(the first one in Rochester)are moving fast. Almost no tickets are available in the lower bowl(save for a few near the old Zamboni entrance); virtually everything that IS available is on the Broad St. side in the 200s as well as the section behind the goal on the other side of the rink. Game 4 has a LOT of tickets available. If you can't get there....

    2. ....fear not, MSG is here to help! The Sabres just announced that the first 2 games in the series will be available on MSG Network across the entire MSG regional footprint. Don't be surprised if the home games get added, too.

In the Hershey market, the Bears have teamed up with Fox 43(WPMT)to put all of the games on local TV. 2 of the games will air on Fox 43, the remaining 5 will air on the station's .2 subchannel, which normally carries Antenna TV.

Up 4-0 in Game 1 at Hershey after 2 periods.

Time for a little Savoie faire, I reckon... :)

Seth Appert says he's likely going to be on one of the wings, and they'll determine which forward position is the best fit for Matt.

Just one more thing: Game 3 Saturday night is SOLD OUT. That's the first time it's happened since they renovated the Blue Cross Arena, and likely in the 66-year history of the team. (Per Kevin Oklobczaja of PickinSplinters.com; he used to work for the Democrat & Chronicle for DECADES.) Oh, yeah....game 4 is trending that way, too.
