I can honestly see Gabe as trade bait. He’s still cheap and has value. Shorter was taken because that is exactly what he is not… dude has size.

I think one of Sherfield or Hardy makes it. It’s nice having a competition.

I don't think they trade Davis. This team thinks it can win this year. But Shorter could replace Davis next year just because of the realities of the cap. Honestly I can't see Shorter on the roster this year unless he's outstanding in camp, practice squad is likely.

If we keep 6 Shorter makes the roster.

Honking they can win this year is the mantra every year from now on with Josh at QB. Do they err by letting Davis leave without return? If Davis is outplayed in camp it could be interesting.

    Re: The WR room

My god is that an awful WR room after Diggs.

Diggs, Davis, Shakir, Sherfield, Hardy make the team.

Hardy rarely sees the field as a receiver as he should be the primary return specialist which makes me question why the hell Heims was restructured.

2 of the rest them make the practice squad, Shorter being one of them...the rest of that group is hot garbage but maybe one of the youngsters shows enough to give him some development time.

    No trades.

Can't wait to see us scrap heap players another year at the position like last year because what we have beyond Diggs isn't good enough let alone good. Maybe Beasley and Brown will want to come back again

    Re: The WR room

Where is Kincaid ?? He's a slot WR replacing the midget profile. The TE label means nothing. Morris will back up Knox at the actual TE position. Kincaid on the field makes the opponent run nickel. That brings coverage in tight and opens it up more for Diggs and whoever is opposite him .

Plus a lot of the 1 year deal guys are not automatic to be here opening day. The 5th rounder Shorter is huge and they'll find a spot for him. Shakir, Sherfield and Harty will have to flash. Their spots are up for grabs.

O.J.Howards was signed and didn't make the cut last year. Bills roster has a lot of those guys fighting for a spot. WR shows more than one.

What we KNOW now...nothing.. Camp answers that. Sorry we cannot deal in absolutes in May.

All make the 53 man roster. It’s a better WR room than KC’s for sure. With the addition of Kincaid, the “pass catching” room may rise to top 7 or so in the NFL.

The only reason KC’s pass catching room is so good is Travis Kielce. And even with him they are not top 10. Their WR's are middling level at best.

Toney is a good one for KC. But that’s all I will say about them.

Totally could see them trading Davis for draft capital.

I can't see it shaping out any other way.

I would not be surprised if Shorter is active every week. He was a big part of the UF special teams - you don't see a front line offensive skill position player covering kicks all that often in college (or in the pros for that matter). He will fit seamlessly into the Bills Special teams coverage, probably as a gunner replacing Taiwan Jones.

I think that Hardy will get targets and see more time as a receiver than as a kick returner. He is problem for teams that play man defense. If he can stay healthy...

    Spot on.

Special teams play is one of McDermott’s methods to ease rookies into the NFL.

It’s critical to remember that the Bills lost two of their most relied on special teamers with their 2022 snap count % on ST....

    Taiwan Jones - 74.39%
    Jaquan Johnson - 60%

With the LB spot being filled more by these two players too, and less on ST...

    Dodson - 67.32%
    Benard - 61.95%

Shorter could be like Jake Kumerow, 6th WR on the roster. He had an important ST role in 2021 with 60.81% of the snap counts, but went way down to 17.32% in 2022 because he was inured so much being alive only six games. (active for 15 games in 2021).

I don’t. I think the chances the Bills trade Davis is between slim and none.

The Bills coaches and GM think much higher of him than some of the “fans” here.

    It would make no sense.

    Re: The WR room

I think they'll carry 6 receivers on the roster. Shorter is number 6. If the Bills do go with five, then Shorter makes the PS along with another WR or two. Shavers is another guy likely to make the PS.
I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.
