    Davante Adams to Buffalo speculation

After June 1st. Would they? Do they have cap space? Would that upset the WR room as it exists?

Could the Raiders decide to trade Davante Adams after June 1?

So where would he go, if traded? The Jets surely don’t have a spot for him, not with so many solid receivers on the roster. The Saints would be an intriguing option, allowing for another reunion with Derek Carr.

Fascinating possibilities, as contenders go, include the Bills and Giants.

Regardless, a trade is not an impossibility. The cap consequence is manageable, and the current cap charge is unavoidable.

I'm pretty sure Beanes' metrics doesn't include spending that much on a receiver room.

They are just throwing out random teams. Nothing to this at all.

Diggs, Hopkins, Adams, Knox, Davis, Cook, rookie TE, Shakir...damn, be no reason to run the ball. Bills going to put up 50 every game. I doubt they even punt all year.

As I have accurately pointed out several times, the idea of having two players in a position group both within the top 10 in AVG/Y salary is almost unheard of....for ANY team in the NFL.

Here is the present top 10 paid WR (in AVG/Y)

Rank Player Team Age AVG/Y FA
    1 Tyreek Hill Dolphins 29 $30,000,000 2027 UFA
    2 Davante Adams Raiders 31 $28,000,000 2027 UFA
    3 DeAndre Hopkins Cardinals 31 $27,250,000 2025 UFA
    4 Cooper Kupp Rams 30 $26,700,000 2027 UFA
    5 A.J. Brown Eagles 26 $25,000,000 2027 Void
    6 Stefon Diggs Bills 30 $24,000,000 2028 UFA
    7 D.K. Metcalf Seahawks 26 $24,000,000 2026 UFA
    8 Deebo Samuel 49ers 27 $23,850,000 2026 Void
    9 Terry McLaurin Commanders 28 $23,200,000 2026 Void
    10 D.J. Moore Bears 26 $20,628,000 2026 UFA

The idea of either Davante Adams OR DeAndre Hopkins (#2 & #3 highest paid) joining the 7th highest paid WR, Stefon Diggs is a fantasy pipe dream and opposite of viable roster management.

Those numbers have to include the signing bonus pro-rating which the Bills wouldn't have to pay. Hopkins base salary is 19M and Adams is 6M. The Bills wouldn't be on the hook for the whole deal or whole number as indicated above.

The raiders would need to eat 50M+ in dead cap so that is out most likely. Hopkins' number drops to 14M next year. So with retained salary it isn't unrealistic. The gamble is how many games will you get out of him.

Agreed. The reason they won't trade for Hopkins is the same reason they won't acquire Davante Adams.
I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.

    Zero issue with the posting.

Yet it seems the media or pretend (social) media will throw any crap they can grab at the wall these days for a reaction.

Adams grabbed the big $$ and now his QB buddy is gone to New Orleans. He can cry a river. Too bad the NFL has a Cap. Call your NFLPA rep for comfort and some tissues.

Re: Davante Adams to Buffalo speculation

And how do any of you who think this is possible think we can afford him under the salary cap?

Is Adams just going to go, oh hey, I might get a ring in Buffalo while being the 2nd option so I'll take just a million in 2023 to do it?

Meanwhile, how do you thin Diggs is going to handle bringing in another receiver who is at his stature in the league or close to it?

We have Josh Allen and some decent parts. Defense is negligible in today’s NFL as long as you’re not a complete sieve.

Adding more primo talent at receiver is exciting and unrealistic, but most importantly, it is unnecessary. What we need most, we ain’t getting this year: coaching

This is the era of scheme and innovative offensive minds. When coupled with a franchise QB, it’s a sure fire ticket to the Championship game almost every season

    You are missing the point.

The fact is that teams do not have two players that are within the top 10 in AVG/Y, irrespective of what the team has to “pay”....signing bonus or not, or even the cap implications.

This is evident when one looks at the facts in that of the 14 positions that have multiple players on each team (excluding single player positions....LS, FB, K & P) for 32 teams (448 instances) only FOUR teams have two players within the top 10 AVG/Y salary for the same position...

    Miami - CB - #3 & #6
    Baltimore - CB - #4 & #10
    LAC - EDGE - #2 & #5
    Wash - DL - #3 & #8.

Despite any cap manipulations, there is a reason why hardly any NFL team EVER have two players in the same position that are within the top 10 AVG/Y for that position.

The Raiders have one of the most top heavy WR rooms in the NFL with the #2 (Adams), #19 (Renfrow) and #25 (Meyers) on the roster. Even more revealing is looking at the average rank of the top 3 WR on a team.

Most top heavy in the NFL???

    Raiders - 15.33
    Tampa Bay - 21.33

Tampa Bay sold out their future and are now in 100% rebuild mode. At least they got one SB win out of it.

Raiders sold out their future for squat. Now they may be thinking of dumping their problem on another team. The Bills would be idiots to be that team

BTW....one of the lowest in average ranking of their top three WR’s in AVG/Y???

KC, 25th....with the #31 (Valdes-Scantling), #65 (Toney) & #102 (Watson). They got rid of the weight of Tyreek Hill and still won a SB.

The Bills are smack in the middle ranked #16.
