Anonymity is an abused privilege, abused most by people who mistake vitriol for wisdom and cynicism for wit
Not too many out there worth big pay days any more considering the rules.

Bills will be in the rookie deal / cheap FA mode here on out… out being really really out.
It's something the NFL has a certain position on.
Look at a player like Barkley, who is 40% + of the Giants O. They have zero shot of making the playoffs without him. Yet the 2nd long term contract seems foolish most of the time when stats show the production dives more often than not. They are oft injured while wearing the bullseye jersey.
The cap and overpaying the QB and WR's in a pass 1st league has killed this position. When that low franchise tag number was established, that was the death of the position. Thus the common cliche, " a dime a dozen " when trying to fill the position. Teams would rather just tag the star RB for a year or 2 at best, then move on. The cap and how they balance it doesn't prioritize RB's. Is it fair ? All how one views it.
I’m in the middle on this one. The league has definitely changed. It’s pass-happy and the days of a “feature back” getting 25 touches a game are over (with a few random exceptions like Barkley). And, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to use cap space long term on an RB, given how almost all of them hit a wall at 30.
At the same time, RB’s aren’t as easy to find as some people make it seem. Despite all the success the Bills have had over the last few years, the best RB has been Josh Allen. It would go a long way if we had a QB who could take some punishment for Allen and was just good enough that other teams would have to respect our ability to run. It’s a pretty low bar that the FO has been unable to meet.
I’m sure these teams don’t want to blow up their cap for these top RB’s, but they aren’t that easy to replace.
Last RB1s to win the superbowl:
- Pacheko - 870k
- Akers - 890k
- Fournette - 2M
- Williams 1M
- Michel - 480k
- Blount 900k
- Blount 760k
- Anderson 585k
I think the evidence is pretty clear on this one.
NFL Live show posted a list of 10 starting RB's 26 and under who wil be UFA's after this coming 2023 season. All top names. Will be interesting to see if anything changes.
