Mason Rudolph is still in play for a return to Pittsburgh

Per a league source, Rudolph is still in play for Pittsburgh.

Rudolph becomes a free agent on Wednesday. His name hasn’t come up today.

Originally a third-round pick in 2018, Rudolph has played in 21 regular-season games with 13 starts. His record is 8-4-1.

Last year, he started at won three games down the stretching, helping the Steelers get to the playoffs. He helped Pittsburgh keep things close at Buffalo in the wild-card round. Before the Steelers pivoted to Wilson, they seemed to be prepared to let Kenny Pickett and Rudolph compete for the starting job.

Commanders lure Nick Allegretti from the Chiefs

Via NFL Media, Allegretti has agreed to terms with the Commanders. It’s a three-year, $16 million deal, with $9 million guaranteed.He has 74 appearances and 13 starts during five seasons with the Chiefs. He started the AFC Championship and Super Bowl LVIII in place of Joe Thuney.
During the first half of the Super Bowl, he suffered a torn UCL in his elbow. He finished the game despite the injury.

Connor Williams, the Dolphins’ starting center the past two seasons, is a free agent. It doesn’t appear he will return to Miami.
The indication came Monday night when the Dolphins agreed to terms with former Titans center Aaron Brewer on a three-year deal reportedly worth $21 million, according to multiple reports.

Ronald Darby, Jaguars agree on two-year deal

Cornerback Ronald Darby and the Jaguars found common ground after the NFL’s negotiating window for free agents opened on Monday.
According to multiple reports, Darby has agreed to sign with the AFC South team. It’s set to be a two-year deal with a maximum value of $10 million.
Darby played 16 games and made seven starts for the Ravens last season. He had 28 tackles and seven passes defensed before making seven tackles and forcing a fumble in the postseason.

Malik Harrison to re-sign with Ravens

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Harrison has agreed to re-sign with the Ravens. It is a one-year deal for the 2020 third-round pick.

Harrison started 29 of the 66 regular season and playoff games that he has played since joining the AFC North club. Nine of those starts came during the 2023 season and Harrison posted 28 tackles and a forced fumble in those outings.

Clelin Ferrell agrees to one-year deal with Commanders

Defensive lineman Clelin Ferrell is set to join Dan Quinn’s first Commanders team.
According to multiple reports, Ferrell has agreed to terms with the NFC East club. It’s a one-year deal in Washington for Ferrell.
Ferrell was the fourth overall pick in 2019 and he spent four seasons with the Raiders before moving on to the 49ers last year. He had 28 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 13 quarterback hits, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery while helping the Niners secure the top seed in the NFC.

Special teams standout Del’Shawn Phillips leaves Ravens for Texans

Del’Shawn Phillips, a linebacker who was one of Baltimore’s top special teams players, is leaving for Houston.

Phillips and the Texans have agreed to a one-year contract, according to multiple reports.

The 27-year-old Phillips arrived in the NFL as an undrafted rookie out of Illinois and has carved out a niche for himself as a special teams player with the Bills, Jets and Ravens. Last year he played 79 percent of the Ravens’ special teams snaps, the most of any player on the team in 2023. Phillips also played 7 percent of defensive snaps.
