Joe Burrow on the Chiefs- Somebody has to knock them off, I’m hoping it’s us

After playing the Chiefs in back-to-back AFC Championship Games, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow didn’t have the chance for a rubber match in 2023 due to a season-ending wrist injury.

But Cincinnati’s signal-caller still paid plenty of attention to what Kansas City did to capture a second consecutive Super Bowl title.

“Yeah, they were great,” Burrow said in his Tuesday press conference when asked about the Chiefs. “Their defense was one of the best in the league, they have great players on that side of the ball. And then, obviously, they’ve got Patrick and Travis and their O-line and those playmakers.

“They’re the gold standard right now. Everybody’s chasing them — obviously, they’re back-to-back world champs. Somebody’s got to knock them off, I’m hoping it’s us.”

Steelers to sign WR Scotty Miller to one-year deal

Pittsburgh is signing Scotty Miller to a one-year deal, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Miller, 26, spent last season with the Falcons under now-Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith. Appearing in all 17 games, Miller caught 11 passes for 161 yards with two touchdowns. He was on the field for 24 percent of Atlanta’s offensive snaps.
A Buccaneers sixth-round pick in 2019, Miller won Super Bowl LV with Tampa Bay to cap the 2020 season. He has 85 career catches for 1,085 yards with six touchdowns in 67 games.
The Steelers have now added Miller, Cordarrelle Patterson, Van Jefferson, and MyCole Pruitt this offseason after each played under Smith in Atlanta.

Love seeing this now just lose Tee Higgins.

Quarterback Jordan Travis isn’t expected to be in the Jets lineup during his rookie season, but the fifth-round pick has eyes on taking over the starting job in the future.
Travis will be sitting behind Aaron Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor once he’s cleared to return from the broken leg that ended his 2023 season and stunted Florida State’s shot at a berth in the college football playoffs. He said at the team’s rookie minicamp that he will “watch every little thing that they do” in order to see what it takes to be Rodgers’ successor as the No. 1 quarterback for the Jets.
    I bet Aaron loves this.

It’s a one-year deal, worth “up to” $5 million. Which means, as we’ve learned especially this year, that the only way to get there is to hit some incentives that, at times, can be hard to achieve.
In 2022, Chark played for the Lions. Last year, the Panthers.
He was a Pro Bowler in 2019, his second season. It was his only 1,000-yard campaign, at 1,008. Last year, he had 525 yards in 15 games with the Panthers.
Watch out for the Chargers this year .... you heard it here 1st.

Irvin is out, as reported by Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post.

The league confirmed the news to Andrew Marchand of TheAthletic.com.

It’s no surprise, given the events of 2023. Irvin was sent home from the Super Bowl after an employee of a Marriott hotel complained about Irvin. He sued the hotel but not the league. The league, as we understood it at the time, wanted the case to go away before bringing Irvin back.
Only one question took you so long!!

Joe Burrow excited to work with “explosive” Mike Gesicki

After spending last season with the Patriots, tight end Mike Gesicki signed a one-year deal with the Bengals in March.
Cincinnati had a significant vacancy at the position, as the club did not truly replace former tight end Hayden Hurst once he joined the Panthers as a free agent last year. So, after two consecutive years of dipped production — one with Miami, one with New England — despite playing in all 34 regular-season games over the period, Gesicki’s numbers could be on the rise in 2024.
“Mike’s been great for us,” quarterback Joe Burrow said in his Tuesday press conference. “He’s got a big catch radius. He’s an explosive guy that I’m excited to work with. He’s been everything you can ask for on the field and off. So, he’s been a great addition for us.”
