    Eagles cut four players

The Eagles drafted nine players in Detroit and they’ll be signing some undrafted players, so they created some space on the roster for newcomers on Monday.

The NFL’s daily transaction report brings word that they have waived defensive tackle Noah Elliss, wide receiver Griffin Hebert, defensive back Tiawan Mullen, and offensive lineman Lecitus Smith. The team also officially announced the previously reported signing of tackle Mekhi Becton.

Smith is the only one of the four cut players who has regular season experience, although it did not come with the Eagles. Smith appeared in 10 games and made two starts for the Cardinals in 2022.

Saints agree to terms with OT Justin Herron, OG Shane Lemieux

The Saints agreed to terms with offensive guard Shane Lemieux and offensive tackle Justin Herron on Monday, Matthew Paras of nola.com reports.

They join draft picks Taliese Fuaga of Oregon State and Josiah Ezirim of Eastern Kentucky as newcomers in the offensive line room as the Saints rebuild that position. James Hurst retired; Andrus Peat remains a free agent; and Ryan Ramczyk’s future remains in doubt because of a knee injury.

Report- Giants, Vikings offered Patriots multiple first-round picks to move up to No. 3 - NBC Sports

After months of speculation, the Patriots ultimately did what most people expected in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft: They kept the No. 3 overall pick and drafted North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye.

But if they had wanted to trade down, there were good offers available to them: Mike Reiss of ESPN reports that both the Giants and the Vikings offered multiple first-round picks to the Patriots.

The report says the Giants’ offer was the No. 6 overall pick and their 2025 first-round pick, while the Vikings’ offer was the No. 11 and No. 23 overall picks and their 2025 first-round pick, for the No. 3 pick and two mid-round picks.

Kansas works on pitch to get Chiefs to leave Missouri - NBC Sports

If the Chiefs move, they might not be moving far.
According to the Topeka Capital-Journal, via Sports Business Daily, Kansas legislators have begun to work on a pitch to get the Chiefs to cross state lines.
The key will be free money. Missouri currently is offering none, thanks to the failed vote from four weeks ago today to extend a small sales tax to fund the renovation to Arrowhead Stadium and the construction of a new baseball venue for the Royals.
Kansas can pull it off without putting it on a ballot. That’s the only practical path to taxpayer money.

Ryan Poles- We drafted P Tory Taylor to make opposing offenses uncomfortable - NBC Sports

During a Wednesday interview on the Pat McAfee Show, Poles explained why he selected Taylor at No. 122.

“I didn’t expect him to get much further. Definitely didn’t think I’d be able to pick him up when we got into the fifth round,” Poles said. “And, really, the thought process there is to make anyone we’re playing really uncomfortable. I didn’t play much in the NFL but I know running onto the field and having the ball spotted inside the 10-yard line is a very uncomfortable feeling. It’s disheartening at times. And I love taking advantage of field position. And, really, that should help us with points as well.

“So, I think it’s going to add to our team and make it uncomfortable and difficult for any team we’re going against.”

Taylor won the Ray Guy Award as the nation’s best punter in 2023 after setting an FBS record for punt yards. He averaged 48.2 yards per punt with 43.8 percent of his 93 attempts downed inside the 20-yard line. Just seven of his punts went for a touchback.

Jaylen Warren- Steelers' special teams coach has discussed Justin Fields returning kicks - NBC Sports

Warren said Fields might be the fastest player on the Steelers, and Fields has 2,220 rushing yards in his three-year NFL career, so he’s certainly capable of making plays with the ball in his hands. Fields wants to be a starting quarterback, and returning kickoffs does nothing to bolster his chances of being a starting quarterback some day, but if Russell Wilson is starting and returning kickoff is the only way for Fields to get on the field, perhaps he could do it. NFL teams will be thinking outside the box with the new kickoff rule, and Fields as a return man would certainly be outside-the-box thinking.
