Lions sign four draft picks, 15 undrafted free agents

Head coach Dan Campbell won’t be at the Lions rookie minicamp this weekend, but the team is still proceeding with other business.

That business includes signing four draft picks, including fourth-round safety Sione Vaki. Vaki also saw time at running back during his time at Utah, but will be focused on the defensive side of the ball after recording 51 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and an interception in his final season.

The Lions also signed fourth-round tackle Giovanni Manu, sixth-round defensive lineman Mekhi Wingo, and sixth-round guard Christian Mahogany.

Terrion Arnold on competitiveness- If my mom was a WR, I’d jam her into the dirt

“I’ll never forget one time my mom kicked my tooth out because we was just going at it so hard so if my mom was out here right now and she lined up across me as a receiver, I would jam her into the dirt,” Arnold said, via Eric Woodyard of ESPN.com. “That’s my mindset and my mom knows that right now. I just mean it in the simple aspect of like football-wise, that’s just the way that I think and the way that I was brought up.”

Adonai Mitchell chose No. 10 because 10 receivers were drafted ahead of him

Mitchell wore No. 5 at Texas, but quarterback Anthony Richardson has that number in Indianapolis. That left Mitchell with a choice and he said at the team’s rookie minicamp that he “was up late just thinking about” his new number before finally settling on No. 10 to serve as a reminder of his place in the wide receiver draft order.

“Nobody got a name, nobody got a face,” Mitchell said, via Joel A. Erickson of the Indianapolis Star. “I’m not bitter about it or anything like that. Definitely, congratulations and happy for the people that got picked, but at the end of the day, it was between me and them, and they got picked. It’s all motivation.”

According to multiple reports, the Jets have agreed to terms with 11th overall pick Olu Fashanu. The tackle will sign a four-year deal that includes a team option for a fifth season.

Fashanu started at left tackle at Penn State the last two seasons and was name both a first-team All-American and the Big Ten’s top offensive lineman after the 2023 season.

The Jets signed Tyron Smith and traded for Morgan Moses before drafting Fashanu last month.

Lions sell out season tickets for 2024 - NBC Sports

The team announced on Monday that they have sold out of season tickets for 2024 as well. Single-game tickets will go on sale after the regular season schedule is announced on Wednesday.

If there was any reason to doubt that the Lions would have the same success at the box office, it would be that they raised ticket prices by an average of 30 percent for the coming season. Some seats saw even bigger upticks in price, but any complaints about that decision didn’t lead to a shortfall in customers.

The Lions will have home games against the Bears, Packers, Vikings, Jaguars, Rams, Seahawks, Titans, Bills, and Buccaneers this season.
