Eagles sign three draft picks, including third-rounder Jalyx Hunt

The Eagles signed three of their 2024 draft picks on Monday.

Third-round linebacker Jalyx Hunt, fourth-round running back Will Shipley, and fifth-round wide receiver Ainais Smith have all signed four-year deals with the team. They previously signed fifth-round guard Trevor Keegan and have five unsigned selections.

Hunt transferred from Cornell to Houston Christian and had 6.5 sacks during his final college season. Shipley had more than 1,000 yards from scrimmage while also serving as a kick returner for Clemson last year and Smith posted more than 2,400 receiving yards over his time at Texas A&M.

Buccaneers, Antoine Winfield Jr. agree to four-year deal - NBC Sports

According to multiple reports, safety Antoine Winfield Jr. has agreed to a four-year contract with Tampa Bay.

Winfield was franchise tagged in March to keep him with the club for at least 2024. Initial reports indicate that Winfield’s deal is worth $84.1 million with $45 million fully guaranteed, making Winfield the league’s highest-paid defensive back.

Winfield, 25, was a second-round pick in the 2020 draft and has been a key part of the Bucs’ defense since his rookie year when the club won Super Bowl LV. He turned in his best season in 2023, registering 122 total tackles, 12 passes defensed, three interceptions, six forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and 6.0 sacks. He was a first-team All-Pro for the first time.

In his 59 career games, Winfield has registered seven interceptions, 11 forced fumbles, eight fumble recoveries, 15.0 sacks, and 18 tackles for loss.

Saints sign DL Kendal Vickers

The Saints announced Vickers’s signing on Monday afternoon. They also confirmed the previously reported signing of offensive lineman Lucas Patrick.
Vickers appeared in two games and made two tackles for the Bills last season. He played in 25 games for the Raiders over the previous three seasons and recorded 20 tackles, two sacks, and three tackles for loss while with the AFC West club. Vickers has also spent time in the Canadian Football League.

Jared Goff, Lions agree to contract extension

According to Tom Pelissero, Goff has agreed to an extension with the Lions to put him under contract through 2027 with an option for 2028.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the deal is worth $212 million with $170 million guaranteed.
The average annual value of $53 million would put Goff behind only Joe Burrow’s $55 million per year on the list of highest-paid quarterbacks.

Trey Hendrickson at Bengals workouts despite trade request - NBC Sports

Hendrickson asked for a trade last month amid a push for a new contract. He signed a one-year extension through the 2025 season last year and is set to make $14.8 million in 2024 and $15.8 million in 2025.

At the time Hendrickson made his request, it was reported that the team had no interest in trading Hendrickson, who had 17.5 sacks last season, and Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said after the draft that Hendrickson is “going to play here next year for us.”

It remains to be seen if anything will happen with his contract, but Hendrickson seems to be preparing for that outcome as well.

Jets sign draftees Jordan Travis, Isaiah Davis, Braelon Allen

They announced fourth-round running back Braelon Allen, fifth-round quarterback Jordan Travis and fifth-round running back Isaiah Davis now are under contract. Their signings leave only third-round receiver Malachi Corley, fifth-round cornerback Qwan’tez Stiggers and seventh-round safety Jaylen Key unsigned.
First-round offensive tackle Olu Fashanu previously signed his four-year rookie deal.
Allen appeared in 35 games at Wisconsin and finished with 20 100-yard rushing games.
Travis threw for 20 touchdowns and only two interceptions last season for Florida State before breaking his leg in November.

New Chargers wide receiver DJ Chark says the opportunity to play with quarterback Justin Herbert was a “big time” attraction when he was weighing his offers in free agency.
“He’s a Top 5 QB in this league,” Chark said of Herbert. “The way he prepares, seeing the way he works, catching passes from him. The timing has been great. Playing with a guy like that — I’ve played with many QBs in my career, so being able to play with an elite guy is definitely something that I’m excited to do. I feel like he can help me in a lot of different ways.”

Rams sign third-rounder Blake Corum, six other draft picks - NBC Sports

Third-round running back Blake Corum headed up a group of six other picks who signed with the team. All four of the team’s sixth-rounders — defensive tackle Tyler Davis, kicker Joshua Karty, wide receiver Jordan Whittington, and center Beaux Limmer — and seventh-round tackle K.T. Leveston also got their contracts done.
Corum is expected to complement Kyren Williams after a stellar career at Michigan and Karty will have a shot at the kicking job while the other players will likely be vying for depth roles.

49ers will host Jets on Monday night in Week One

ESPN announced that the Jets will be at Levi’s Stadium to face the 49ers to kick off the Monday Night Football schedule for the 2024 season.

The Jets were at home on Monday night to start the 2023 season and a festive night took a bad turn when quarterback Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles on the fourth offensive snap of the game. The Jets would go on to beat the Bills in overtime on a punt return touchdown by Xavier Gipson, but the injury wound up looming large in another losing season for the Jets.

Colts T Braden Smith feeling good after offseason knee surgery

Smith told reporters at a Tuesday press conference that he had surgery on his left knee after the Colts season ended in January. Smith missed three games late in the year, but returned to play in the final two contests of the regular season. He missed seven games overall during the season.
Smith said that he feels he has been progressing well since having the surgery and that he’s in a good spot when it comes to getting ready for the start of the 2024 campaign.
This season will be Smith’s seventh in the NFL and the 2018 second-round pick has spent his entire career in Indianapolis.

The team announced that third-round wide receiver Jermaine Burton and fourth-round tight end Erick All have signed their four-year rookie deals. They have now signed eight of their 10 picks from this year’s draft.
Burton spent two years at Georgia before switching SEC sides by transferring to Alabama. Burton had 79 catches for 1,475 yards and 15 touchdowns in two seasons with the Crimson Tide and averaged more than 20 yards per catch in 2023.

Broncos agree to terms with third-round pick Jonah Elliss - NBC Sports

Denver has agreed to terms with third-round pick Jonah Elliss, according to multiple reports.
Elliss, 21, played his college ball at Utah before the Broncos selected him at No. 76 overall. The outside linebacker recorded 16 sacks with 23 tackles for loss in 35 games.
Denver now has all but one of its 2024 draftees under contract. Fourth-round receiver Troy Franklin is the remaining unsigned pick.
