Foley Fatukasi visited Texans, set to visit Bills Thursday

Defensive lineman Foley Fatukasi is generating interest as a free agent.

Fatukasi was released by the Jaguars earlier this week and he has caught the eye of two other AFC teams. Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that he met with the Texans on Wednesday and his colleague Ian Rapoport reports that Fatukasi will meet with the Bills on Thursday.

The Bills parted ways with several veterans on Wednesday as they work to get under the cap by the start of the new league year, but they also added quarterback Mitch Trubisky so they are making moves in both directions. The Texans could lose Sheldon Rankins in free agency and Fatukasi would help fill that potential void.

In his time with Jacksonville, Fatukasi started 29 of 30 games played — totaling 48 tackles (29 solo), five tackles for loss, and five quarterback hits; adding four pass defenses, and 1.5 sacks.

The Bills have a clear need to add players at defensive tackle, with just Ed Oliver and Eli Ankou under contract for the 2024 NFL season. Perhaps they find a way to bring back DaQuan Jones and or others from last year’s room such as Jordan Phillips, Tim Settle Jr., or Poona Ford. Or, it’s possible they’re on the hunt to replace each of those four, and Foley Fatukasi caught their early attention. Fatukasi clearly possesses talent, and he’s produced reasonably well within sound defensive systems.

Daquan Jones needs to be resigned the rest of the bumpatrol need to hit the bricks. Why especially would we bring back Phillips?… to recuperate on the injured list again?
