Reported everywhere here in Pit.
A completely wasted 1st round pick. Wilson will probably keep the Steelers in this borderline playoff team neighborhood so they don't get a chance to draft a real good one.

According to multiple reports, the Steelers have agreed to trade Pickett to the Eagles.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Pittsburgh will receive a third-round pick (No. 98) and two 2025 seventh-round picks. In addition to Pickett, Philadelphia will receive a fourth-round pick (No. 120) to complete the deal.
The No. 20 overall pick of the 2022 draft, Pickett started 24 games for Pittsburgh over the last two seasons, compiling a 14-10 record.

They are basically a one man team.
That was a daft pick for sure.

Well they made layoff last year with Rudolph. And they do have a good defense. It depends on your interpretation of "over the top". We all know what it means for the Bills. For the Steelers ...
It kind of reminds me of the Bills teams from Jauron to Rex where you have good defense so you don't really go to the tanks, but offense, in particular, QB, to hold you back to go over the hump. Of course the Steelers is a notch above the Bills team then.
I'll say there is an element of complacency for Tomlin, as in I won 2 superbowls and never have a losing season, not good enough? By the way, Tomlin's contract runs out after the 2024 season, and there is no talk on contract extension yet. I'm pretty sure he does not want a sub-500 finish this year.

More despite Rudolph ..... it's all Watt and maybe a few others on D.
I follow the Bills and live in Pitt; always envied the Steelers leadership, ownership on down. Where the Bills had Wilson, Nix/Whaley etc.
Now we have Pegula, Beane and McDermott. The Steelers are in Omar Khan, late stage of Tomlin era. The way to handle QB shows the difference. The Chiefs, the Bills were both coming off playoffs and knew the QB was not good enough. Chiefs traded with the Bills, the Bills traded all the way up to Tampa to get their guy to start the new era. The Steelers are in the same boat - they knew Pickett is not the answer with today's action. Yet they sign a 35 year old Wilson for 1 year, ONE year! Just tells me they don't have a plan at that position.

Rams to sign Jimmy Garoppolo - NBC Sports
According to multiple reports, the Rams are signing the former 49ers and Raiders quarterback. It’s a one-year deal for Garoppolo, who will try to be the backup to Matthew Stafford this season.
If Garoppolo makes the team, the Rams will have to make plans to have at least one more quarterback on hand for the start of the season. Garoppolo is set to serve a two-game suspension due to a performance-enhancing drug violation. They closed out last year with the now-unsigned Carson Wentz as the backup because 2023 fourth-round pick Stetson Bennett spent the year on the non-football injury list.
Tomlin seems to be a guy who is an amazing coach all week long but comes up short on game day. At least in my time, he has an amazing record of having his team prepared -- whoever they are -- on game day. Like amazing. Outside of a team that would classify as a dynasty we don't have examples of that kind of consistent coaching in a program.
But man he alone can blow it up on game day too pretty damn consistent he can get in the way.
So his team that actually overachieves and always looks pretty competitive is only pretty average.
I can't really see Wilson upping the ante on this. The whole situation is going to compound the problem and end up being the Steelers in the cellar in a brutally competitive division.
Better toc cut bait and move on, stuff out there says Pickett was more full of himself than his record states....Wilson might be washed but he'll be more a contributor with a new offense than Pickett, trubisky and Rudolph, even marginal on a cheap 1 year contract....I thought Pickett had some fire but the skills were elusive.....Wilson is worth the mulligan to them.
Steelers did pretty well with a motley crew of malcontents....looks like a new day in Pittsburgh, I can't blame them for cleaning some house.

At least they used Wilson as an excuse to trade Pickett. Pickett sucks.
Methinks he's got some ego issues that don't jive with coaches ego issues. This is kind of embarrassing for a young quarterback and signifies they don't like the person he is.
