Re: Bills trading Diggs to texans

It sure is looking more and more that the best thing for this team was to move on from Diggs and put all their eggs into the Josh Allen basket.

THIS was the time to do that. The Bills only chance at finally getting over that hump is to let Josh Allen be his best self. EVERY move, EVERY offensive player acquisition, EVERY offensive strategy has to be to maximize Josh's full potential.

Moving on from (from all appearances) although a talented player was a divisive presence in the locker room who (in some ways) thought the then revolved around HIM!!!

The team revolves around Josh Allen.

Bills management just put a HUGE exclamation point on that fact.

Which is why I believe this team will be BETTER in 2024 and going forward. No more need to coddle the big mouth diva who thinks his **** does not stink.

“I didn’t know what Stefon Diggs said to him, but Josh Allen snapped at him,” Graham said, via LarryBrownSports.com. “He said, ‘It’s one f—ing game!’ and kind of motioned like I’m not talking to you here. And Diggs walked away and Josh sat there. In retrospect, keeping in mind this was Week 1 when for all we know everyone is hunky dory, but looking back on it I wish I would have included that in my story or made some sort of reference to it. Maybe Stefon Diggs was saying something nice to him, but [Allen] didn’t snap at anybody else.”

Chances are Allen didn’t snap without a reason. He doesn’t seem to be that way. Maybe he was on edge after throwing three interceptions and losing in prime time to Zach Wilson. Or maybe Diggs made a comment that pushed his buttons.

The upstart Lions were keeping it close. Closer than Bills fans were probably comfortable with.

Then in the second half, Diggs *****ed to somebody, and finally started getting targeted.

As I recall, the game winning drive was basically all him, similar to Cooper Kupp in the SB against the Bengals.

After that, I honestly don't remember his "dominating" a game again.
Well...he "dominated" STINKING in the last game of last year.

The first two plays of the 2023 playoff loss to KC was Diggs fumbling the ball with Kincaid saving it by pushing it out of bounds before a KC player could pick it up...fantastic 10 yard penalty.

The next play, 2nd and 17 yards Diggs dropped the ball at the first down maker after getting hit.

He literally had ONE good catch all game. 2nd and 11 at Bills 34 first play after the 2 min warning for the 1st half. He grabbed a bullet from Allen over the middle for 15 yards. He was invisible the rest of that TD drive and the game.

He had ONE more catch for 3 yards (5 yards was added by KC penalty) on the Bills first drive of the second half.

In the last drive of the day for the Bills, Diggs had THREE incomplete passes. Highlighted by the drop of the perfect DIME by Josh that went 65 yards in the air.

Biggest game of the year and Diggs was an albatross not a help.

Beane magic getting that 2nd round pick.
It's looking like getting that second round pick was vastly maximizing his worth, especially considering a couple of other trades this off season.

The two biggest trades (besides Diggs) were WR Keenan Allen and CB L'Jarius Sneed.

Keenan is the closet comparison. He's one year older than DIggs but played about the same number of games. Their career stats are pretty close...

G GS Tgt Rec Catch % Yds Y/R Y/G TD
                  Keenan Allen 139 134 1309 904 69.06% 10530 11.6 75.8 59
                  Stefon Diggs 136 128 1178 810 68.76% 9995 12.3 73.5 67
But, for 2023, the difference between the two is stark, considering Allen played four fewer games that Diggs....especially in YRD/G...26 yards PER GAME AVG difference....

G GS Tgt Rec Catch % Yds Y/R Y/G TD
                  Keenan Allen 2023 13 13 150 108 72.00% 1243 11.5 95.6 7
                  Stefon Diggs 2023 17 17 160 107 66.88% 1183 11.1 69.6 8

Yet, LA got only a 4th round pick for Keenan (#110 overall) while the Bills got Minny's (through HOU) 2025 2nd round pick that could easily be a top 10 in that round, while also sending this year's 6th round (#18) and next years 5th (probably around #150).

Using this draft value chart, (assuming a Top 10 2nd round pick in 2025, and giving a 2024 6th round (#189) and 2025 5th round, (around #150) the Bills received a final value of about 424 points.

Meanwhile, LAC got a draft pick valued at only 74.

Sneed was considered a "franchise" CB. Only 27 years old in the prime of his career, and KC got the Titans 2025 3rd round pick equivalent (depending on 2024 record) of about 65 (after the swap of 2024 7th round picks)

Getting the equivalent of 400+ draft point value is pretty damn good, while ridding the team of what seems like a divisive presence in the locker room.

Not very impressive for a difference maker.

                    Let's have a great draft!!

We lost a 5th this year and 6th next year which would make the 2nd we get from the Viking a later 2nd rd?

Or we could have just drafted Jefferson and had a dominant WR without giving anything up or having $30 mil in dead cap. Sure, Magic.

I anticipate the Vikings having a pretty poor season .... my guess would be we get somewhere between the 38th and 44th pick overall.

If they finish worst of all we would get the 33rd overall ..... in other words the equivalent to a late 1st round pick .... not bad at all.

Any guarantee we would have drafted Jefferson? Just because he was picked there doesn’t mean we would, but I get what you’re saying

Yeah, we could have had Mahomes instesd of trading the pick used to draft him and we would have 3 Super Bowl Championships.

Or we would sttill have none and Mahomes would be playing somewhere else right now because he would have been a bust here.
