    EDGE Jared Verse

Buffalo Bills 2024 NFL Draft scouting spotlight- EDGE Jared Verse - Buffalo Rumblings

Perhaps the “safest” bet of the group beyond Turner is Florida State edge rusher Jared Verse who amassed 18 sacks in 25 games with the Seminoles after a transfer up from FCS Albany. There are a lot of boxes checked for Verse to where you can see a team warm up to him pretty easily — those traits being character, production, and athleticism.

The most basic boxes are checked with Verse, but let’s dive deeper into his game to find out what the Bills could be getting in Verse if he were to be the selection at pick No. 28. For the purposes of Verse’s report, game film against Clemson, Duke, and Virginia Tech were analyzed from the 2023 season.
    FSU WR Coleman #33
    Utah DB Bishop #60
    Duke DT Carter #95
    Kentucky RB Davis #128
    Georgia C Granger #141
    Wash LB Ulofoshio #160
    Troy DE Solomon #168
    UCF OT Grable #204
    Penn ST. CB Hardy #219
    Eng. OT Clayton #221

Rumors are flying all over the place to their peak, being one day before the draft.

Someone posted inside source that Bills are exploring big trade up for a receiver. Joe Miller insisted that he has insight source that Bills are absolutely enamored with Cooper Dejean and are willing to trade up for him.

    Who knows?

A trade up for Cooper DeJean wouldn't surprise me at all. I don't think there's a more ideal Bills prospect in this draft that just checks every box and would be a perfect culture fit and a McD favorite. I'm sure a lot of fans would lose their minds at the idea of trading up for a DB, but he'd be an awesome pick.

Trading up for Dejean just isn't cutting the mustard for me

We will shock everybody if we draft anything but WR in the 1st.

    Re: EDGE Jared Verse

I can't imagine Verse being there at 28. After Turner and Verse...idk.

The Chop guy from Penn State is def. fast, but doesn't have anything but beating someone fro an outside speed rush. His best year, he had 5 sacks.

Kneeland and Darius Robinson, bigger guys, but neither has much speed. Kneeland had a whopping 4 sacks this year, in the MAC. Teams looking for an outside passrusher are going to be all over Turner and Verse.

Which is fine with me. A team already needing a WR just traded away their best guy. A draft class with some excellent prospects, a number of who will be there at 28, or with luck..a small trade up into the low 20s.

Nah, this isn't hard. Focus on what needs to be done.

Exactly, don’t get shiny object syndrome.

Receiver is by far a more important position on the field than DB and a significant source of need for us. This btw is also a deep DB class so there will be good ones left after the first. But the receiver shelf is going to start emptying quickly into the second.

Edge is equally as important as number one receiver but the problem is there won’t be a difference maker left at 28. We’d just get another Epenesa, Rousseau, Schobel type.

Zero interest in another DE that will never coach or scheme into becoming a consistent pass rusher. Absolutely zero. Way too many assets have been allocated to the defensive line already, and they can best be described as "serviceable."

I don't think not signing into the 2nd contract is a sure miss. But certainly not HOF level elite that teams will pay to keep regardless.

Ya I’d rather take Jackson Powers-Johnson than any EDGE that falls to 28.

High probability the dude plays 10+ years at a very high level.

It would be amazing if JPJ fell to us at 28.

One thing amazing is the number of Edge 1st round picks are taken compared to other positions. By wide margin. Edge on defense is equivalent to QB; GMs know the importance.

True. Too bad we haven’t hit on one yet with all the shots we’ve taken. Groot, Epipen and Olly are great rotational guys but unfortunately not game wreckers.

Too bad getting one at 28 would be greater odds than you not using smilies in every post.

    Re: EDGE Jared Verse

15 years ago, the Buffalo Bills drafted an outstanding football player at pick 28, yours truly --- from Eric Wood today talking to McDermott.

McDermott's answer is something like if we can come out today like that, mission accomplished.

Well they didn't mention the Buffalo Bills also picked at number 11 15 year ago. I hope they don't trade up to pick 11 today.
