So about a month ago my son and I were talking about the draft. I told him I wouldn't be surprized to see Harbaugh trade Justin Herbert to move up to draft JJ McCarthy! I can seriously see this happening!

So the Giants trade their 2024 1st 2nd and 3rd to the Patsies in order to draft Drake Maye.

It would be an asinine trade for a probable future backup but I could see it happening since the Gints are so poverty at the position and the Commanders will be taking Jayden Daniels who the Patriots probably covet.

Chargers would take a 137 million dollar dead cap hit if they traded Herbert so this one is probably impossible no matter how bad Harbaugh loves McCarthy.

You are likely right. They'd probably only be on the hook for the bonuses they paid. I'm not a cap expert.

Herbert's dead cap is that high mostly because he got a $95mil option bonus that was guaranteed at signing so that entire figure gets moved up into the current accounting year if they part ways.
