Bills invite pro lacrosse player Zed Williams to rookie minicamp

Bills invite pro lacrosse player Zed Williams to rookie minicamp - NBC Sports

NFL scouts need to be willing to look for talent anywhere they can find it.

The Bills are looking to another sport.

Zed Williams, a professional lacrosse player, is trying out at the team’s rookie minicamp as a linebacker, via Ryan Talbot of NYup.com.

He has spent four years in the Pro Lacrosse League. He was an All-Pro and MVP in 2020. He also has played in the National Lacrosse League since 2018.

Williams, who played lacrosse at Silver Creek high school in western New York, has focused on that sport for years. The article mentions no football experience at all.

“It breaks your heart when someone leaves and you don’t know why.”

"It may be raining but there's a rainbow above you"

Former President Donald Trump early Thursday touted the results of a new NPR/PBSNewsHour/Marist poll showing him ahead of President Joe Biden by 8 percentage points among independents.

The waterboy might get you 16 sacks in one game.

I know you are being sarcastic but comparing competitive lacrosse with pickle ball is like comparing PGA Tour golf with Putt-Putt.

They just had a wrestler in too. We don't have this luxury. It's as absurd as even trying out guys who have never played the game on a level. Come on, this is ridiculous and desperate.

We've got three rings so we can afford to have a little fun with the roster, using 3 or 4 spots on guys that have never played the game before.

                  Oh. Wait a second...

                      How silly.

The Bills have a strong roster. They can have as many as 90 players in camp. The final 53 is easy to predict. At least half of the practice squad is fairly easy to predict to.

That means that about 30+ players have no chance of sticking. The Bills ABSOLUTELY have "the luxury" (in reality, it's not a "luxury" at all) of trying out some superior athletes that one may be good enough to develop on the practice squad.

A strong roster is one in which most of the back-ups could start. The Bills are one QB injury away from being a **** show. Being realistic is not your thing apparently.

Uh, I suggest you explore the stats for the Chiefs back-up versus Chump Trubisky.

Nonsense. Besides the fact that the Bills would NOT necessarily be a "**** show" if Josh got injured, (because the TEAM is very good) the same can be said with any team with one of the best QB's in the league.

Here are some of the backups for the some of the better QB's....

                              Mahomes - Carson Wentz
                              Lamar Jackson - Josh Johnson
                              Aaron Rodgers - Tyrod Taylor
                              Joe Burrow - Jake Browning
                              C.J. Stroud - Davis Mills
                              Trevor Lawrence - Mac Jones
                              Justin Herbert - Easton Stick
                              Jalen Hurts - Kenny Pickett

And on and on and on. None of them are appreciably better than Trubisky.

In any event, the discussion of the roster depth was in context to the Bills trying out some superior athletes that do not have football experience.
