Bills will head to Miami for Thursday game in Week Two - NBC Sports

Amazon Prime’s slate of 2024 regular season games will kick off with an AFC East matchup.

The broadcaster announced on Tuesday that the Bills will travel to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami to face the Dolphins to kick off Week Two of the season on Thursday Night Football. The September 12 game will get underway at 8:15 p.m. ET.

Buffalo swept the Dolphins last season, including a Week 18 Sunday night win that made the Bills the AFC East champs. The Bills have a four-game winning streak against their divisional rivals that includes a Wild Card win after the 2022 season, so the Dolphins will be looking to end an extended slide.

Good. Early season 1pm games at Miami are too hot for the visiting bench. A week two Thursdaynight game in week two...at least we wont be so banged up. Amazon Prime though...

I hate that it’s a short week and they have to play in the heat/humidity of Miami. No sun will help some but it still sucks.

Hopefully the second game against them will be late in the year and have bad weather. I know the bad weather hurts our passing attack but Miami just can’t seem to handle the cold at all.

Nah. After we beat the fish on Thursday night, we'll have a mini bye week before the next game. It's all good!

Also this likely means a 1 pm home opener and it won’t be against Miami. I can’t see them giving us the night game if we have to play again on Thurs.

Probably another season opener against the Jets. I'm not sure why they keep doing that to the Bills.

Why not? Competitive advantage - 7 days rest for a regular Thursday night game. But I'd bet it won't happen because Miami would scream all the way to Roger Goodell.

I think they already said that the week 1 Thursday game is Ravens at Chiefs, so we are safe.

So the Bills are very likely to open at home as they have to play an away TNF game. Someone posted the likely home opener opponent. Of the 4, having Pats coming to Buffalo might be ideal. New coaching stuff but same defense which we are familiar with. Drake Maye may surprise us some but still his very 1st game in NFL. You want an "easy" game to prepare for a quick turnaround for TNF.

Getting Jags will be tough. For whatever reason, their D line is giving us issue in recent years and Josh has been playing well against them.

If you assume the Bills will open up at home because they have a road TNF game week 2, by process of elimination the opener will be against one of these 4 teams.

This is great. Bills generally do well on Thursday night and playing on a short week shouldn't be as big a deal so early in the season. They also get to avoid the sun and still likely have Miami coming to Buffalo later in the year. And they get extra rest and prep for week 3. There really isn't anything to not like about this.
