    Likelihood of Leftwich starting rises for Jags

    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Mark Brunell missed his second consecutive day of practice Thursday, further heightening the likelihood of rookie Byron Leftwich getting his first NFL starting assignment this Sunday when the Jacksonville Jaguars travel to Houston.

    While Brunell watched from the sidelines, Leftwich took the majority of snaps in practice, with David Garrard taking the rest. Brunell reportedly did not throw during the team's two-hour workout.

    Rookie Leftwich to make start Sunday

    Jaguars Coach Jack Del Rio wasn't available Friday, but told a national radio audience it is ``very unlikely'' Brunell will start.

    The 6-foot-5 rookie from Marshall has taken most of the snaps in practice this week.

    A sidenote... isn't it amazing that from this statement.... "very unlikely that Brunell will start", that the paper headlines... "Leftwich to make start Sunday".
