Yvan Tessier was turned away from an English immersion course at the University of New Brunswick because he would be forced to give his dog, Pavot, instructions in French.
Students in the course are expected to communicate only in English, at all times, during the intensive five-week course. That includes talking to the dog.

Yvan Tessier said Wednesday night he is delighted the university decided, under intense public pressure, to let him attend a five-week summer immersion program with his guide dog, Pavot.
The dog, a black Labrador, responds only to French commands. The university had originally insisted that Tessier could not attend the immersion course unless he promised to speak only English to Pavot.
"I am thrilled to be joining the UNB program and look forward to my challenge," Tessier said. "I look forward to joining my classmates."
The university said Tessier will begin orientation on Thursday for the program, which began last Sunday.
"This is an exceptional situation and we are pleased that Mr. Tessier was interested in working with us towards a mutually satisfactory arrangement," said Susan Mesheau, a public relations official at the university's Fredericton campus.

Doug ,put up the story about the kid that the quebec jugde said he could not go to a english school in quebec because 20 years ago his father too a french imersion course in winnipeg, now how stupid is that.
That's the law in Quebec. If one parent is a francophone, then your kids go to French school.
