Cool 2008 Salary Cap Page Available!!

Right now, I have the Bills aboot $26.3 million under an unadjusted salary cap of $116 million with a bit more than $1.7 million "dead cap"

I also have the Bills having around $41.1 million "cash to cap" but don't bet on any spending sprees

I also mentioned a few weeks ago that the Bills used the "LTBE loophole" to the tune of $13 million as well as Moorman not making the Pro Bowl. That would add $14 million to both numbers.

Still trying to work out bonus structure on Schobel, Walker, Lynch, Lindell, and Moorman. This will undoubtedly end up decreasing the above numbers somewhat. Maybe aboot 5-10%

Going to send :dozer: the new cap page soon...stay tuned

That's a significant amount of free money.

$40 million cash to cap with no significant free agents of their own to worry about, SHOULD be able to result in 2 "meaningful" FA acquisitions and maybe a guy or two as good "role" players.

a guy like Briggs is probably out (but of course, this is Buffalo). But they can afford a #2 WR like Wilford, Gage or Johnston.. Maybe a TE like eric Johnson and a LB like Lehman.

It sounds like we are in solid shape to extend Evans, and get some FA help at a few key positions.

This should be a fun offseason, as I do expect us to spend some money in the FA market like last year but more on the D side of the ball.

Why are so many people high on Lehman? He had a great rookie year but hasn't done jack squat since. It reminds me of Coy Wire. He had a solid rookie season but been a bench player ever since.

In terms of significant players, the two top on my lists are WR Jerry Porter and DT Chartric "Chuck" Darby.

He did alright his rookie year but I don't know about great. Since then he has fallen completely off the planet and is RARELY healthy, thus I'm really not all that interested.

To answer your question; people are high on him because he's a realistic FA for the Buffalo Bills.

I think Porter and Darby are realistic too. As they're not All Pro type guys but think can be had as long as we're willing to show them the money.

Porter thinks he's all-pro though and will expect to be paid as such. Darby is old and coming off a serious injury, he may not even be ready to go for camp. I'll pass on him too.

Just part of the PR..........give fans in Toronto some flash

What I'm saying is that the Bills will make one move in FA or make a trade that none of us will expect. If there were no games in Toronto, this player move would NOT be made.

I guess I can see that.... It would help Ralph out with the fans if he got serious two off-seasons in a row and spent some money.

I hope you're not advocating we sign Doug Flutie to back up TE [/sarcasm]
