Playoff Picture Revisited - Week 15

Once I do again what one poster stated was "public masturbation" - look at "What if scenerio" how can we get into playoffs assuming that we run the table. Since I started this we have run the table, Houston and Cincy have dropped out of contention and several strong teams have fade.

Our chances once again are not as bad as some have stated. Several of the contenders and the teams already in playoffs (Pittsburgh, NE, and Indy play and SD no longer is a factor (SD plays Indy but both are likely in playoffs and SD gets to stomp on Cleveland next week) since no critical games are left in their schedule unless Denver suddenly goes hot.

GOOD: The Jets lost at Pittsburgh as expected; Cincy is out of playoff unless a 9-7 team can get in and see assumption above.
BAD: There were no upsets of interest to our team; however all of the wins of remaining wild card contending teams were done at home.

Next week ALL playoff contenders are on the road.
Next week there is one critical game - Baltimore at Indy and I expect Indy will readily handle Ravens at home. Both Jets and Jacksonville face stronger NFC games and there is a decent chance of a Green Bay win over Jacksonville; I have no idea what happened to KC this year so I think Denver will win that one.

Seattle COULD beat Jets but not on the road I think; I am not sure what the tie breakers are if both Bills and Jets end up at 10-6 but Bills and Jets would each have 3-3 division records, but the Jets would have a better AFC record for Bills can not get 7 AFC wins.

Updated chart linked; I have not added Week 14 ESPN or ABC game but neither really affects us.

Bills will win the Tie-Breaker over the Jets if both end up 10-6.. I think that is what may happen, Bills get into the Playoffs.

Record against common oponents is the determining factor in divisional competition.

I explain it all in this thread...

First of all, Buffalo needs to run the table... we lose one game, we may not be mathematically out, but we're out. Chances of happening: approx. 55% - Pittsburgh is the big question mark. Thankfully that game is at home. I think we're all a little too scared of Cincinatti. We have the defense to stop them, and I don't know if

2 out of our last 3 games are pretty tough. Cincie at thier house is going to be tough, and Pittsburgh week 17, even though its at home is going to be very difficult. But the Bills are playing w/ alot of confidence. Even if we don't make the playoffs, we have instilled hope for 2005, and hopefully our FA's to be; Pat Williams & Jonas Jennings will be encouraged by this so much so, that they want to stay aboard.
