Can't get a TV in here! I was on a conference call...
Hamister gets the Sabres, the Bandits, control of the arena and already has the Destroyers...all he needs is a couple of restaurants and shops near the arena and he's all set...hey!! there is an idea!!

Bettman says the league feels the Hammister deal should be accepted and the timeframe to finalize the deal is the first quarter of 2003. That is pretty fast but not fast enough. It likely means we are stuck with Regier and Ruff until at least february. I doubt we will win a game in November. We may get one vicrory in December and January each. Oh my this team sucks.

Paul Hamilton on WGR is reporting that the league leaked the story last night to get a bidding war going.
Hamilton reports:
1. Hamister came off much more professionally than Galisano.
2. Local officials wanted Hamister.
3. Galisano wanted Quinn in the group and the NHL was not thrilled with that.
4. It appears that Jeremy Jacobs recommended Hamister.
5. The sale price is probably between 60-70 million. The initial bid may have been as low as 50-55 million.
6. The league may have met with Rigas and Adelphia before the process to set a price that would make Adelphia go away or else the league would have told Adelphia to sue the team for the $155 million. This would have pushed the team to bankruptcy and Adelphia would have gotten nothing.
7. For now Regier and Ruff will stay in place during any transition and probably the year.
