    Panthers place RB Smith on 'paid leave' after DWI charge


    Panthers running back Lamar Smith's Thanksgiving DWI charge will end his season with the team.

    Panthers general manager Marty Hurney told SportsLine.com that Smith will be getting a "paid leave of absence for the remainder of the season."
