I think NYS had better find that $30 million it promised to Childrens Hospital in Buffalo before it promises $$ to Mark Hamister.
Childrens Hospital first then Sabres

I concur about Kaleida Management 100%. Recently, I saw a copy of a balance sheet for the 4th qtr: Overbudget by more than $1 million on supplies and very slightly over budget on employees. They always propose to cut jobs instead of tryin to work on CQI or process improvements. I have personally made suggestions that could save in excess of $100,000/year just by changing one thing, but mgmt resists because THEY didn't think of it....a union member did.

So you are against keeping Childrens' open as an independent entity? Despite the news reports that, from my understanding, claim that closing Childrens will harm health car in WNY? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
The original plan was for a new state of the art Children's to be built on Main/High. The present Children's would be closed after the new one was to be built. I also believe that Gates Circle (where I work half my shifts), should be closed and adult services to shifted to Bflo Gen/Suburban/DeGraff. Kaleida has too many "brick and mortar" sites and spends far too much money on maintenance instead of patient care. Fewer bldgs means that the nursing crisis could be alleviated by transferring nurses. Most of our facilities operate at approx. 75% (have 75 nurses working but need 100).
New Children's at Main/High could incorporate the Subway in its planning. Increased ridership could give it meaning and maybe lead to expansion to UB North Campus...especially since the Medical Campus is closely affiliated with UB (New Bioinformatics Ctr for example). It could also lead to further economic development in that portion of the city.
I could go on and on.....

BION, more people worry about and would rather have the Sabres than Childrens. Nobody I know that has kids wants to take them to Childrens anyway. Most would rather go to Milliard Suburban or South Buff. Mercy.
For all the education and practice each of us undergoes, the achievment of mastery is ultimately the outcome of a personal quest for understanding.

The Sabres are nothing to worry about compared to assuring adequate health care for all children and people in WNY.Last edited by Judge; 12-11-2002, 10:58 AM.Argue like hell. Keep it clean. And when it's over, shake hands and root for our team!
