Just a word about the rookie draft and future league calender.

Players from the 2005 NFL draft are not eligible to play on the disk that we have for this season since they were in college. However, we will have a rookie draft after the stocking draft is finished. As per our Constitution the draft will be held worst to first...however, because this is the first season of the league we will draw the draft order by lot. The draft picks are tradable. Players and next year's FA and rookie draft picks can be traded.

Rookies do not count against this years cap...however, next year any rookie put on the active squad will have salaries assigned as follows:

Round 1 - $1.0m
Round 2 - $500k
Round 3 - $400k
Round 4 - $300k
Round 5 - $200k
Round 6-8 - $100k

Said salaries will go into effect the BZFL year following the rookie draft.

In future years the rookie draft will be held BEFORE the FA draft.

This is what I am looking forward to as a time frame (not written anywhere near stone). We will play one game per week for a total of 18 games.

Stocking Draft: April 15, 2005-June 1, 2005
Rookie Draft: approximately 2-3 weeks after completion of Stocking draft
2004 Game Disk Season: approximately 2-3 weeks after completion of rookie draft
2004 Game Disk Playoffs: Hopefully start Nov 13, 2005
2004 BZFL Super Bowl I: Nov 27 or Dec 4, 2005

Offseason Dec 2005-April 1, 2006

Cut down date and tendering of contracts April 1, 2006
2006 Rookie Draft May 15, 2006-June 1, 2006
2006 Free Agent Draft June 15-Aug 1, 2006
2005 Game Disk Season/Playoffs August 15-Jan 2007

Yes, this long term planning may seem crazy but I also need to scope this out to keep my sanity. The 2006 dates better reflect when different things will happen in the league.

btw, you may acquire as many rookie draft choices as you wish but on cut down (before the regular season begins) you must cut down your rookie squad to have no more than 8 members.

don't worry...we will move slow enough that everybody will learn as we go. if we get going to fast we will slow it down. if there are any questions feel free to ask.

now, think about what the real GMs go through when you add all the stadium stuff and travel and such.
